Volant has the intake scoop which is worthless. Well actually the volant system sucks in general.

if tuned correctly they gain the most hp out of all the intakes, just cuz the design makes it really rich and if tuned you can lean it out.

$500 is a little too steep, the ability to tune sounds nice but not needed. It's sounding like the URD for now. that or the TRD i'm thinking

Thats one thing about it also. Also I bought the volant when I first got my truck not knowing, regretted buying it after a few months. The whole design is poor. Intake tube was hard to get on, the box rattled against the top and bottom of the fender because there is no rubber to insulate it against the metal. Plus the box doesn't even make contact with the stock air pickup in the fender. I quickly sold it and got the TRD and was much happier with the fit and finish.

Ok, So I am down to the URD and the TRD CAI's

I like the placement of the URD. But what about power, anyone know which gives more kick?

The TRD gives a nice kick from 3500rpm to redline, can tell a noticeable difference. Some of that perceived increase may be the great sound that goes with full throttle acceleration, but it definitely pulls harder and stronger as well.

So I was looking around. I like these fog lights that are mounted behind that almost invisible grille. It's a good look and a good solution for high mounting the foggies. Not saying I'm going that route yet but it looks like the URD intake would be in the way of those lights, or also visible behind the grille.

Is there enough room for the URD and Fog lights behind that grille?

no, because the urd comes out half way. It ends right behind the grill emblem.

The URD is a nice setup but it will definitely show through with a grillcraft grill. The URD will get better air flow over the TRD setup and is cheaper than the TRD. I can honestly say though that I installed the TRD CAI and TRD exhaust and had no problem keeping up with a Dodge RT Charger with four girls off the light...seriously their jaws dropped!

I dont like the fact the the TRD use's the fender hole like the stock intake, The URD gets nothing but air with its mount in the front of the radiator it get nothing but cool air

Maybe I'll just tilt the URD 90 degrees and drill a hole through the hood.
We can go this route and get utilmate airflow

are the intakes hard to install yourself? or is it something a professional should do?

Its not hard to install at all you just need a driveway, some teflon tape, a 10mm-13mm socket, and a little patience....for the TRD intake.

The URD mounted in front of the grill will get you good airflow but what happens when you decide to wash your car. I think that any kind of car wash facility or even a common garden house will soak your filter being so easily exposed and uncovered...just my $0.02

I think the TRD is a much nicer setup over the K&N though...ive had both setups.

I just installed the AFE stg 2 (no box, just heat shield) on my 07 AC, it seems to do what it says it will do. I think it is about the eleventy bajillionth intake I've installed over the years. Install took ~1 hr or so.
