Mild Lift

Wanting a mild lift for my '11 DCLB SR5 PreRunner. I have searched and read probably dozens of threads now, and just looking for more confirmation if this setup is good. I know, I know


Would like to stay with a mild lift (1.5"-2") due to cost, I never offroad, and my daily commute is 70/day (so mileage is an issue), and would like to stay away from needing other parts like UCA's. I also really want to keep my ride as soft as possible. The only heavy lifting will be towing a 17' bass tracker in the future, and the occasional dirtbike in the back going to the desert.

What are your thoughts on the following lift:
- Billies all around, set at 0 for the front.
- Eibach springs for the front.
- Rear spring TSB.
- Keeping stock OR wheels, and upgrading tires from stock 245s to 265/75/16.
- Alignment.

I think this would give me about 1.5" lift in the front, and maybe 1" in the rear, correct? Would I be sitting nose high when towing the boat?

Also, how much do you think all of this will cost me? I will most likely take it to a shop to do it all (except the dealer will do the TSB and alignment).

I really like the soft ride sitting stock now, but would like to get a little lift for looks, but don't want to regret stiffening the ride too much just for looks.

This is exactly what I was planning on doing as well, but I think I am gonna get the taco lean spacer too. Also wondering if the truck will be nose high when towing. If so I guess an add-a-leaf will be needed? As far as cost, eibachs are $160+ship from toytec, and $300 for billies from DSM with free shipping, then what ever your shop charges for labor. For tires I priced some Hankook ATm's for $600 installed at discount.

That's a great plan man....deff 265's as they are on the OR trucks so you'll be fine!

 

I did the same lift but instead of Eibachs I had my billies set to the 1.75 notch to preload the springs. Ride feels fine to me. Also I am running TRD OR wheels with 265/75 16 and just had the TSB done so I am slightly higher in the rear. Alignment too. So far no issues. There are lots of threads and pics on here of guys running this same set up.

 

New springs for less pre-load will be the better ride in general!

 

^ Agreed if you have the cash to do it. I will be going that route in the future. Do they make an Eibach that gives you that short of a lift? I was under the impression that Eibach's only came in a 3 in lift size? I could be wrong... still learning bout this stuff myself.

 

I think the Eibachs give a 3" lift for 1st gens. For 2nd gens, it is around 1.6" (from what I have read on TW).

 

Agreed... did some research on Toytec last night. If used with the 5100's at "0" setting the Eibach coils provide 1.6" of lift. I think you will be happy with this lift, tire and wheel combo. I now I am with mine even though I have my stock springs preloaded at the 1.75" setting.

 

I have exactly what you are planning. I don't remember what I paid, but I think I had that done for around 500 or so. Great set up, doesn't really effect gas mileage at all, and rides real nice. Here's what it looks like.

 

If you want a soft ride, I wouldn't go with Eibach's. I'd instead consider OME 883's or 884's. For a double cab, the 883's will put you around 1.5" of lift, the 884's around 2". They're closer to the stock spring rate so if that's what you're accustomed to and would like to stay at, you might want to look into them.

I've got 5100's and Eibachs and I'm not trying to bash the setup but it is noticably stiffer than stock anf if you ride rough, pothole riddled city streets, might be a little uncomfortable. On backroads or highways, they are awesome, very little truck roll and significantly reduced nose dive when braking.

 

If the eibach's are not preloaded the 600lb spring and not the 650 would prob be good......or the OME like pugga said.

 

Where did you get your lift from? What's your set up?

 

Newbie here I have been planning to do this modification for 2 years now lol. 884's OME? IDK after market coils?! I have a 2010 DC SR5 2WD without the TSB. I would like to do the same lift which company has the best deals or pricing? Sorry for the ?'s.

 

Not entirely sure what you're asking but OME = Old Man Emu. The 884 is a coil designation. OME makes 4 coils that fit the Tacoma, 883, 884, 885 and 886. The 883, 884 and 885 all have the same spring rate, the 886's are much stiffer and are intended to be used on a Tacoma with a heavy steel bumper and a winch (200+ lbs). On a Tacoma like yours, the 883's should give you around 1.5' of lift, 884's should give you right around 2", 885's should give you around 2.5 - 2.75" of lift. The OME coils can be paired with their own Nitrocharger shocks or with Bilstein 5100's.

The lift that I have is Eibach coils on Bilstein 5100's. Eibach coils are stiffer than the OME coils and only give you 1.6" of lift on a double cab. You can kick the 5100 setting up to .85 and get closer to 2.5" of lift with these coils also.
