An engine that can run for more than 100K miles without tons of repairs.... FAIL!

You should throw a pink Jeep in the mix and duke it out to make it more interesting.

I actually was looking at jeeps... For much less money they can be far more capable than tacoma, 4runner, FJ... but a wranger just isnt big enough. I want to still be able to tote around my family and gear. Plus there's the reliability factor. I would probably get a jeep or FJ40 for a dedicated rig.

    get a late 90s Cherokee 4x4 with the 4.0l I6.
Gas mileage is meh but enjoy that reliability and power.

You're just plain flat out dudy stink wrong. You could take a dump in the gas tank and the 4.0l would still run just fine. The 4.0l can run trails all day long at 225* temps w/ cracked exhaust mani's and not skip a beat, go through timing chain guides or burn up valves. I certainly can't say the same for the 2rz in my tacoma.

Too old for daily driver... would make a good dedicated rig.

Yeah. This is gonna be a trail rig/DD mix. I don't wheel hard, and am actually gonna have to get a new T-Case if I do pick up this rig today, just because it is still stock gearing. I need/want a 4:1 so I can crawl slower and help preserve the Jeep.

I would have been all over the newer 4 door wrangler, but they were more than the wife would let me spend. She wanted to make sure whatever i got could still be payed off in January like we planned to with her car.

Check my build thread...too much to list.
I'll come out and hang/help out if it's cool with you.

If you have to ask...but what do I know? :notsure: I'm a grown man that plays Minecraft.
