What's under the black plastic strips???

Hey, what is under the black plastic strips on the roof of a 2011 Tacoma Access cab? Do they come off? Are there factory threaded inserts on the access cabs? I was looking at a Baja Rack. Dave

 

Access cabs have sheet metal and a couple clips to hold the black rubber trim on, no nuts for a roof rack. yes they come off, there is no reason to remove them.

 

it's the placeholders for the roof rack.... I added the OEM roof racks onto my tacoma and had to peel those rubber strips off

 

Correct you have a double cab he is asking about an access cab totally different body.

I can simply take off the black rubber strips that are on the roof of my 2012 DC and add a roof rack to existing holes?

There has been a couple of guys here who have done a mod on the access cab to fit the factory racks, so there may be some answers here as to what can be done.
