Hey guys, I recently paid for my CCW class out at Merchant firearms. Ive never been there, but they had a kickass deal online and I couldnt pass on the price.

    Anyone been there before?

How bout any incite on the actual test/class? In looking online, it sounds like each state people have a different experience- so looking for AZ specific info.

    THANKS!

Never been to the one your going to but I have done Washington, Oregon, Florida, and Utah. All 3 of the 4 are some of the strictest (outside of california) for getting them and they are really easy.

I wouldn't worry about it, just pay attention and ask questions. If you have any questions feel free to ask on here. I used to be a SAMI (Small Arms Marksman Instructor) in the Navy and I now carry and work with weapons for a living as well as having been in combat several times.

I've passed the qualifications for DOC which gives me a ccw but it'll probably be different than the standard class

Thanks for the replies guys, I do appreciate it. I dont worry about it so much, just want to be prepared. I have a hard time sitting still, so not looking forward to a whole day and then testing at the end. Ive also heard anywhere from 14-75 days to get it in the mail.

Its going to be a couple of months to get it back in the mail. I have my armed guard card, which I can get a ccw for only $60 for the paper work. But I plan on actually taking the class for the Utah license, so I'm covered for most states. Now only to get a good ccw pistol.

I got my CCW about 5 years ago and I believe its expired now.... But it was a very easy class and my instructor was full of great information... like mentioned before ask any and all questions you have it wont hurt.... I could be way off but I thought in AZ we no longer needed a CCW? That is why I let my CCW expire.

I figure the more info and training, the better. It was a $40 dealchicken offer. Ive put a few rounds through my new s&w, and carry it on me most of the time.

Exactly. It never hurts to get a little more knowledge on firearms. I went through Black Wolf Defense and John was a great instructor.

I did my class a while back, actually I just sent in my renewal.
I did not know John Hansen from Black Wolf at the time. I did take my Utah class with him. He is a great instructor and offers great deals on CCW classes.
I have taken pistol shooting/training classes with him several times and he is good.

John keeps up on all the changes that go on in the CCW world

This is true now, but you do get advantages by having it. Buying a firearm is much quicker because you do not have to wait on the background check.
The classes are also very important to give you an idea of your responsibility you take on when you decide to carry.
The more you know the better off you are.

If you have any plans on traveling I would highly recommend you get the Utah CCW as its the most recognized and strictest to get.
Go here to check state reciprocity. Just click on the states. I have a Washington resident, Utah, Florida, and Oregon. Covers me almost anywhere.
