after some searches, i came across a British company called Beowulf that makes some nice looking and great sounding "silencers". had to go with the flat black :D

while my bike was up for sale, i wanted to get some last licks in before we split ways. so a few buddies and i took a nice early season cruise around the base of the foothills to get some fast turns in to get the blood going.

all was good until we got back to my buddy's place and someone noticed some oil dripping out of the bike :(

turned out to be leaking out of my airbox

common problem...centrifugal breather failure. the breather sits at the end of the crankshaft where excess pressure gets relieved. the breather spins around with the shaft spinning the oil to the outside of the breather case while allowing the excess pressure to be relieved out through a breather hose back into the airbox. with the breather failing, oil escaped out the breather hose into my airbox...no good!

another fun part about this failure was while we were diagnosing the issue, my fuel line connection busted!....again :embarrassed: another common issue these bikes have. the connection from the tank to the two fuel lines is plastic and prone to breaking. so that was the first repair that needed to be addressed while i waited for my parts from Britain.

so the bike went off the market...

so couple buddies got to have a bike mod day :D

jace threw on a new front fender while my engine got torn apart....

    mods for me:
    re-gear to 14/45 (-1 +3)
    new chain
    centrifugal breather & seal
    cam cover gasket

    no more oil leaks!

the cam cover gasket has been a problem since i got the bike almost when i noticed oil leaking out of the top of the motor onto my headers...so while the bike was apart, seemed like a good time to fix that issue!

    they're definitely fun to have!

been using mine a lot more commuting too..saving tons of $$ on fuel

50mpg or so on the bike vs 16-18mpg in the truck...10+ miles each way to work..that adds up

Definitely. Where is the best place to look for used bikes? How much would your's run these days?

i found mine through craigslist in denver

bought mine for $3400 i believe a couple years ago, but immediately had to put a new set of tires on them because they were the original tires from 2002

right before i took it back off the market, i had it at $5000, but i had offers at $4500. i was about to sell it until my centrifugal breather went

i'd have it back on the market at $5000 if i were to sell it right now, giving me some room to drop before hitting my bottom line...that's early season prices too..always cheaper at the tail end of the riding season, so if you're looking for a good deal and don't NEED to ride right now, then buy at the end of the summer. Spring and early summer are the price peaks on bikes

Got the HIDs in today and tinted the headlight. Kit was an easy install even without instructions.

Pics after install and also shows new taillight.

I don't do any stunting, but I have a pretty sweet bike, and would love to ride if you ever come up this way. I rock a 2002 Honda vfr800 interceptor in Italian red.

yea i don't stunt either, jace and his buddies do and invited me along for that halloween ride

always down for a ride...would be nice getting a few of the TW members together for a bike meet...there's some nice roads up by you...could do a peak to peak ride and end at a fort collins brewery or end in boulder at a brewery or someplace with grub

That would be sweet. Most of my daily cruises are in the high park fire area, so I haven't got up as much this year, so far anyway. I'm not a huge fan of riding in town anymore, too many stupid people in cars on cell phones and stuff. There are still plenty of places to ride though. Keep me in mind if you come up this way, and I'll do the same down there.
