Potential GB? Trail Gear Wheel Spacers

Thanks. I got a 3" lift. I want to run 285/75/16's on stock wheels. whats the best way of going about that? I dont get this backspacing and what not crap.

 

longbow has some good pics of the trimming in his gallery. with the spidertrax I have trimmed just a little bit more.

 

so if you dont get the spidertrax there is less cutting? i thought they were essential...

 

if you want to run 285's and not rub the uca's you will need spacers whether spidertrax or another brand. Spidertrax are the most trusted brand thats why most everyone has them, you wana trust something that connects your wheels to your vehicle. your going to have to trim some plastic with either brand due to the new offset that the spacer created for your wheel.

 

according to their website trail gear makes spacers that are 1", 1.25", 1.5", 2", and 3" wide.

the 2" and 3" spacers might cost a bit more.

 

do you know if this applies to a 1st gen as well?

 

oh man sorry I hadn't payed attention to your model year over there on the left. I dont have any experience with spacers on a first gen. but i'm willing to bet that 1" would also work very well with the first gen.

The idea here with the spacers is to get the wheel away from the uca's to fit bigger tires but you dont wana go out so far that it creates a huge problem rubbing the wheel wells front and back of the tire with the wheels turned. all in all its a fine line of what works well and what doent work good at all
