So the numbers on the far left are the width of the shim. (The are in order by size) and then the numbers in the columns are the thickness of the shims. The thicker the shim the stiffer it is. (Really basic explanation) Fox uses this weird # then a number for their valving. King and most other companies just do it by thickness of the shims. Depending on where the shim its located in the stack and thickness is how the oil flows at certain speeds.

Take this with a grain of salt because I am no shock expert and learned all this by asking questions and reading. Maybe we can get DSM to do a nice in depth explanation one day.

Its the bottom of the shock that the shaft is going into. It will have a part number and valving on it. Valving will have the "/" in it.

You aren't going to find shit on valving. Really the only way is to find someones truck that rides well for what you do and then go from there. Each truck is different because of weight, speed, and type of terrain. A guy that likes to huck is going to be different then a guy that likes to go through whoops.

Here is a diagram of what the inside of a bypass looks like. C/O and Smooth bodies are the same but without the tubes.

If any of you buy used shocks and they weren't rebuilt before you bought them I'd suggest doing it or atleast just checking them. You don't know what shape the oil is in there. When I pulled my C/O apart a few weeks ago and the oil was black. Its supposed to be clear or what ever the color the oil you used is but not black.

That about right for a rebuild and revalve.

Rebuild kits are $25 each for kings, Shock oil is about $50 a gallon, Shim stacks are $25 a stack from King (Each shock uses two stacks) plus the time it takes a person to do the labor.

As for valving talk to DSM and Tim at DMZ what they suggest as they do a lot with 2nd gens. I'm sure what TCyoda said is going to be around what they are needing to be but never hurts to ask.
