Well, welcome to Texas then :D
Although cold is a relative term, it gets cold here. Maybe not what you're used to, but still.

From what I've experienced, which isn't much, there's quite a few places to hunt. Most of the land around here is private though IIRC (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). I usually hit up the deer "resort" out by Lubbock for hog hunting and dove.

    I'm 15, pre-kids I was 5. Love that place.

You a UFO member? I was close to getting a plate on the wall, but then that whole kid thing happened.

Austin is great, I love the city but could never live there. Way too many hippies.

I've never bent an axle shaft; but from what I have heard they tend to break before bending. Might be a better question for TOR.

I haven't joined the UFO club because it seems I rarely get up there but maybe once a month or so. Then there will be a month or two that I don't get up there at all. I do keep thinking about it though. When I get closer to being done with my schooling I'll probably join it and ride the bike up there twice a month.

Yeah, wish I could make it up there more these days... I'm sensing a meet there soon.
Wednesdays are pint nights, I have quite an extensive collection of pint glasses from back then.

While I really like the idea; I'd have to vote for a Saturday night meet so as I could make it easier. During the work week it is really hard for me to get away at a specific time.

Haha I love to hunt don't get me wrong I have harvested quite a few animals. I meant to type golf and fish though. Hunting access is just a bonus.

And hearing this makes me want to check out a place before I reroute my entire life...

Don't get me wrong, Austin is an awesome place, if you check it out for a couple of nights you are going to love it. It is just a very "green" city, which is very good in very many ways. I'm all about doing our part to save the Earth, but I can't stand hippies, co.sixer me like Cartman, "god Damn hippies!"

Honestly though, you would love it if you visited. The advantage for me is when I want to go, it is 1 hr flight or 3 hr car ride, I can go get my fix when needed.

Exactly. Austin is nice to visit but I couldn't live there. There are too many other places that are great to live that are within driving distance of a job in Austin.

Haha, yup that sums it up.

Honestly though it is a great place. The key is going there and enjoying Austin for what it is and enjoy the culture; but don't get sucked into the culture and become part of the culture. Their slogan is "Keep Austin Weird", which I agree with, just don't become weird.

Great food, great music, great night life, great terrain/land, great outdoor life, great location in driving distance of 3 great large cities, and the countless amazing small towns in Texas, and the best University there is with all of the glorious women that come with it. It is only a matter of time before pro sports are back in Austin. I can say really only 2 bad things about it, traffic (which has gotten better with the loop) and hippies!

I lived in Austin for 3 years. I lived in a nice neighborhood, but even then, my neighbor had a sculpture of a butterfly, made entirely out of Volkswagen beetle parts, in his front yard. It was 6 feet high.

And there are so many homeless people there it is out of control. Every street corner has 2 or 3 of them competing for your money.

I did have a good time living there though, lots of outdoor activities, always something to do, great live music.

Haha! Yup, I actually don't mind the homeless as much (they are everywhere like you said) but more just the hippies, which can be difficult to distinguish between the two at times. The look the same, just one is asking for change or food, the other is looking for weed and telling you not to fight the establishment.

Power blew at our office, so our boss gave us a 3 hour lunch break. Getting paid while sitting on my couch right now.
