Oh no! I already bought 4 5100s. I measured my truck and the stock rake is about 2 inches. If I raise the front 1.75" and the back 1.5" my new rake should be about 1.75 inches, right???

Damn, no TSB and you have 2" of rake?? Your leafs must be in good condition! If that's the case, then you'll likely keep the stock rake with the fronts at 1.75 and the 1.5" AAL.

I hope so. I want a little bit of rake so my front end isn't pointing up in the air when I have a load in the back. I think my front end settled more than the rear end. Maybe my eyes are shot...

My leafs look like they are straight (parallel with the road). Shouldn't they have a slight curve to them? They definately don't curve the opposite direction like I've seen some guys have.

The stock Toyota leafs are pretty flat. It's good that you don't have negative arch, that would be an indicator that they've seen some use and are worn.

Well I'm anxious to see how she looks when I put the lift on. I'll post before and after shots like others have done on here. I have to thank you and all the other guys who have helped me get to this point. Hopefully I don't have to ask questions about vibrations I create. Either way, after looking at all the mods guys have done, I will visit frequently!

You'll be fine. I put my front Billies on last night set at 1.75. I have a DC OR 4x4 and with the 3 leaf rear my truck is pretty much level. I'm .25 nose high on the front right, but i wouldn't have noticed without measuring. I'll post some pictures once I get the rear billies on.

All measurements are ground to the center of the fender.

Just finished putting on the rear Billies and the ride is amazing compared to stock.

Oh yeah! That looks good!!! Better ride too? I can't wait. The 3 leaf came stock? It's not the TSB or an AAL?

Yep, the 2012 off roads still come with a stock 3 leaf pack, the sports and sr5s now come with a 4 leaf pack. If you don't have much sagging in your leaf springs I would expect 1.25 to 1.5 inches of rake with an AAL.

I drove to work this morning with just the fronts done and wasn't really impressed with the ride, but once I put the rears on WOW! I couldn't believe how good it drove. Much smoother on the interstate, a little stiffer (not harsh at all) on back roads, and little to no body roll on curves.

Hey everyone, I've read a few of these threads about suspension and tires and it seems to me and correct me if I'm wrong, please. On my 2009 taco with the rear TSB that 5100's set at 1.75 will level out my truck and the largest tire I can get without rubbing is 265/70/17. Is this correct?

    Thanks in advance.

Generally, yes. Measure from the hub to the fender on the front and back and if the difference between the two measurements is 1.75"+, then setting 5100's at 1.75 will level you out or close to it. If your leaf pack as sagged over the years, and the difference between the front and back is less than 1.75", then it might put you nose high.

The largest tire is too vague. The 265/70R17 is a popular sized tire for 2nd gens to avoid rubbing. It's a good combination of width and height. You can go taller though if you go skinnier. If you mean largest as in overall height, 265/70R17 is not the tallest you can get away with.

Thank you Pugga. I didn't realize how vague I was being. I am looking for a good combo of width and height
and to fill up the wheel well as well.

I have the 5100's still in my garage and am debating on getting the OME coils and shocks and send back the 5100's because I don't want a harsh ride.
Is the stiffness quite noticeable compared to stock. I don't want to be bouncing around in the cab on backroads.
Am I going to have the same stiff ride with OME coils and shocks since they are rated higher than the stock coils(#540 compared to #580 I think)?
I was planning on doing the 1.75 in front and the 1.5 3 leaf progressive from Wheelers in back.

265/70R17 do a pretty decent job of filling out the wheel wells. I believe you can fit 255/75R17 without trimming also. Once you go to 275 and 285 series tire, you run the risk or rubbing or trimming for clearance.

You can put OME coils on 5100's. You have a TRD Off Road which has progressive coils so preloading them will make them pretty stiff. If it were me I'd rather have taller coils vs. preloading shorter coils for lift. The OME coils will ride stiffer than stock but it should be bouncing you around in the cab by any means.

    Thanks Pugga for the reply,

Will I notice any difference with the OME shocks(Nitro) since they were made for the coil vs the 5100's set at 0.
I think I will buy the OME coils then. One more question - OME 884's will be a 2 inch lift, correct? I would like to stay 2 inches or under if possible with new coils.

I have no personal experience with OME shocks but I've heard they are a bit softer than the 5100's. The 5100's seem to get stiffer with time, at least that's what I've noticed.

Someone just put 884's on a double cab and initially ended up just a hair over 2" of lift (will probably settle to 2")

OK, my shocks came in the mail from Toytec.:D And my tires will be in on Monday. My question is. Does it matter if I have the shocks or tires installed first? I don't want to ruin(gouges in) my tires by not having enough clearance for them. Tires will be installed at one place and shocks and alignment at another. My apologies if this is a dumb question.

I measured from the hub to the fender and got a 3.00" difference. That seems a little much to me from everything I read. Hopefully the front struts are just shot out and that's why the big difference. I'm going with the 1.75 setting.
