I'm aware, change it. Why have two planets? Why didn't the company come back to this one instead of the "new crash" on the other planet?

prometheus takes place before ALIEN, so nobody knew about the crash on LV426 yet. The crash on LV 426 in Alien was suppose to happen 2000 yrs ago. Perhaps one of the ships that was suppose to destroy Earth, but who knows.

Maybe because Weyland was on this trip he kept it quiet from the rest of the company. I mean, he's supposed to be dead by then. No point in letting everyone know about this place before he can secure it's riches and secrets for himself.

It is not a prequel to Alien but they stories are related in the same scifi universe. A lot of people miss this and expect another Alien/Aliens.

The most popular theory is that the Engineer sacrificed himself (his DNA) to terraform a planet. It's suspected the planet was Earth. The movie was full of open endings and little explanations, which is part of the appeal. Some people want the movies to spell everything out and they get mad when they are incited to think.

IMO, the childhood memories were just character building. The reference to Ebola was a tie-in. Her Dad died of a virus and she (hinted by David) was going to die of a alien “virus.”

This was explained in an earlier post, and better explained HERE. Also, did you notice that David asked him a series of questions before he dipped the alien goo into his wine glass from his finger tip? I suspect that Holloway’s answers were going to sway David one way or another. OR, David’s own questions to him were his own: “How far would you be willing to go to find your answers? What would you be willing to do?” David was willing to go all the way and sacrifice one of his own members (Holloway) to find his answers.

Nobody knows for sure. The military installation and bio-weapon statement is just theory given by the pilot. A lot people think the explanation (even if the general assumption is wrong) was given just to solidify the story/plot.

An acid-based organism is allowed greater expansion based on gases, not muscle and skeletal tissue like humans (which can only grow based on consuming other matter, i.e. food). Just kidding, I don’t have an freaking clue.

Good question. This is why I think the planet may have been a burial ground for the alien virus, not a bio-weapon facility. Maybe the engineers there were wardens to ensure the "prisoner" alien goo didn't escape. This gives another theory as to why the Engineer flipped out when he was woken up.

I suspect Holloway, if allowed to die, would have ended up just like the geologist: alien zombie. Remember when they amplified the engineer head back on the ship? The “virus” just took over and *splat*

    You would think so right?

I have tons of questions too, all subject to interpretation. I would also like to know what the deal was with the big head statue and the alien murals on the wall.

Had it not been for my biology class, I never would have come to the conclusion that the humanoid that kills himself at the beginning of the movie was what created life on earth. maybe? I liked the way they showed his dna disintegrating in the water, that part kind of gave it away for me.

I also liked the part when the captain asks vickers if she's a robot, and she replies : "my room in half an hour" or something to that effect.

They needed that scene in 3D!

For me my biggest issue is the fact that they said 2k yrs ago the Engineers were going to kill earth, they have video of the Engieers runnins from something, a lot died and some made it to bridge and decided to sleep for eternity eventhough the ship still worked and they still had their cargo. BUt 2k yrs later the Engineer wakes up and gets pissed and fires up the ship to go kill Earth....Why the fuck didnt he do that in the first place? Why sleep for so long? Why cancel the mission when they were still mission capable?

Im sorry but I was really stoked for this movie but too many questions, bad writing, the audience deserves more at $11 for a matinfuckinee.

That's a lame cop-out. None of the other movies (Aliens/Predators/AVP) left you feeling pissed off and confused.

    They actually all made sense.

Anyone know what happened to the guys that took off in the rover after Fifield went Hulk on the crew in the cargo bay? I know I wouldn't want to be driving around in the rover with that alien roaming around.

AVP movies were shit. They either had shitty characters they tried to make you like and then killed off, or they had a bunch of no name characters that I had no inclination to get to know let alone who they were...and then they killed off.

Your reaction is very typical of American views for movies and I don't say this as an insult. Everything has to be cut and dry, there can't be any room for interpretation afterwards. God forbid the audience has something to talk about after the movie besides where to go after the movie is done. Personally I like a little ambiguity after a movie so then it gives me something to think about, it engages me long after the credits have finished rolling. That is the mark of a good movie IMO.

AVP made sense in the fact that it was a franchise movie and it stunk of a money grab 10x over. As someone who's read the AVP comics and numerous books, there was far far better story lines they could have done. But fucking Paul Douche Bag Anderson had to go and make Resident Evil with Aliens instead...

AVP is not part of the Alien/Aliens franchise (although I'd like to say the same about Alien 3 and 4).

How is it not? They had Lance Hendrickson in there, Weyland Corp (With Miss Yutani at the end of it.) and there were Aliens. While I get that there is not direct connection to Ripley saying it's not part of the Franchise is just ludicrous.

And Alien 3 was awesome. It was a space drama with Aliens plain and simple. The acting was second to none however the graphics were horrible even for that time period. (When you consider that Jurassic Park came out the year prior.) Alien 4 was another total Franchise grab. All action and witty one liners. (Anyone else want to vomit when Call goes "What...the fuck.". Ugh. Horrible horrible.)

Because all the Characters in Prometheus where just lovable and served a purpose greater than being killed off in lame ways? Sorry but AVP:R had a great cast, the Chars you really liked, The Drifter, Kid Brother and Army Chick all live, and the the ones you hated, Douche-bag Boyfriend and Stupid Blonde die.

Then I presume you mean we are more demanding in quality and substance than the rest of the world. We have more refined taste and are not swayed with shallow special FX and "Brand Name" directors.

Talking about how much a movie sucked or was riddled with plot holes is not a good thing. You honestly have to completely turn your brain off to enjoy the movie as it violates so many basic principles and expectations.

Like - oh, I have to drug test to work at Walmart, and be searched to ride a city buss - BUT.... there is no drug testing or searching to fly across the galaxy on a multi-trillion dollar space expedition to discover the origins of man!!

On that subject - why would a dying Trillionaire have to lie about what the expedition is and who is coming? With 6-billion people in this world he would easily find 30 capable individuals that would keep the secrete and be dedicated to the very end to accomplish his goal of meeting the Engineers and getting his life extended.

Russia and China put a team together that was willing sit in a "simulated" space trip to Mars for two years and only payed those guys $20k a year and they didn't even go to mars.. just locked in a simulator for TWO YEARS.

There are hundreds of negative reviews out there highlighting all the plot-holes, character deficiencies and logic gaps with the movie. It was a total rush/hack job and a poor attempt at "Being original - but not really, just kidding".

I'm not hating this movie because it lacked the OMFG-MICHELLE BAY EXPLOSIONS!!! But because it expects you to be completely retarded and overlook all the inconstancies and just "dumb stuff" that happens.

Yes, lets take our helmets off in a moldy dark alien tomb because our wrist band says the air is breathable... never mind bacterial, poison gas, weird slim, mold, viruses... ect ect ect
I, a non-scientist, can figure out the stupidity of this... so why should I be forced to believe a real scientist in the future would think it's a brilliant idea.
