anyone else hate the "brake assist" on our trucks??

    20% tint, painted handles,painted grill, wet okole seatcovers,sockmonkey decals
    it does it on so many occasions that it dont need to gear down, it kills me sometimes!!! id rather just coast down the hill instead of it gearing down and holding like 3k rpms lol

    I am glad I am not the only one. There is times on a decline I need to slow down 1 mph just to maintain following distance, and the truck downshifts and my face hits the windshield

    Shortest stopping distance in class.....so the drums seem to be working.


    I personally like the brake assist.

    I'm not handicapped... i dont need ANY assistance. =P

    I dont like how i cant coast very far even on flat roads. My brothers 4 banger coasts for awhile if i let off the gas...

    I ride dirt bikes.. I know what engine braking is.
    It shouldn't shift down a gear that early when i'm coasting.

    My 8 cylinder bmw coasts longer than my tacoma.

    Touche, but I encounter steep hills only during the winter when snowboarding. all other times i'm flat... just like asian girls =) (i'm asian so i get a pass to say that lol)

    i thought about changing to discs in the rear, but realized that would be an idiot move.

    The truck stops fine, i just hate the two stage type braking

    I don't get the hate for drums in the rear. The rear does very little braking, so the drums last for fucking ever. It makes the truck lower maintenance and still puts out the best stopping distance in the segment.

    It's almost like the engineers knew what they were doing...

    I thought the brake assist was an option that had to be switched on, not "always on"? Or is this something different than the "DAC" feature?

    Just curious -- my current Tacoma is a manual transmission.
