I just bought an Undercover Flex tonneau cover and a PL5300 Pop&Lock. I haven't received the bed cover yet but I did get the Pop&Lock. My first impression was the cosmetic quality was nothing to write home about. It is certainly not as well made as the parts that come on Tacoma tailgate. The Pop& Lock handle piece seems to be nice enough. The handle fits into an opening cut into a plastic frame that also comes from Pop&Lock. It's the opening cut into this frame that bothers me. This opening looks like it was cut by hand with an exacto knife. The edge of the cut is inconsistant. The mechanical part of the device seems good enough.

I'm wondering what others who might have the Pop&Lock think. Perhaps I just one made when someone who was having a bad day...

I did not buy the part directly from Pop&Lock; I bought it through an internet distributor. Thanks.

I just bought and installed a PL5300 ('05+ w/camera) last weekend. Yeah, the finish on the plastic isn't as nice as the OEM bezel and handle, but then again if you bought a new tailgate latch/handle/bezel assembly from Toyota, it'd be more than $50.
It does what it is suppose to do, and even if it isn't as refined looking as OEM, I would rather look at the aftermarket piece than replace a stolen tailgate. :D

Dynolock makes an internal electric locker for the original handle. Its about $110, but I love it.

I hate my Pop & Lock. The handle feels like garbage when you open it, it feels like it will snap at any moment. It randomly locks itself when I close the tailgate so I have to unlock it all the time. The lock mechanism itself locked up due to corrosion but I was able to break it free with some lube. Now the slot guard is always open.

When Im not so lazy or busy I will be replacing it with my stock handle.

    Garbage!!!

How long ago did you install yours? I heard that the earlier productions for the second gen Tacomas were crap, but they have recently improved the design.
