For 40 or so years I have protected my jewels from harm, it just seems so against my nature to lay on a table with my legs spread and let a guy come at me with a sharp pointy object and something that burns flesh! AND, my wife was in the room asking questions and pointing at different parts of the procedure. At least no "little" jokes!

Actually I was raised Catholic but I consider myself a saved Christian. My mouth and gutter sense of humor are definitely a stumbling block for me, but I do thank God for all my Blessings, especially the gift of forgiveness and eternal life! It's a debt I'm not capable of paying myself. God has proved His love for us with the willing sacrifice of his only Son Jesus Christ! Through death he payed my (our) debt for sin, in rising again, he grants us eternal life in Heaven.:amen:

I don't know if the vasectomy is sacreligious, but it does feel like I was kicked in the nuts about an hour ago.:eek:

Hey everybody! Happy Easter!:) Hope all of you have a great weekend!

So, 2 fillups since the install. I'm actually showing a DROP of about 1mpg., but with an explaination.

The snorkel was installed about 1/4 of the way through a tankfull. After the install there were some cold mornings in the 20's. There was about 20min of idle time per morning, so just under an hour of idling in that tank. That tank I put 236.94 miles and it took 15.576 gals. to top off the tank. (I always run it up to the next even dollar.) That gave me 15.21mpgs. for that tank.

The next tank I put on 212.74 miles and the top off was 13.684 gals. for a 15.55mpg. This tank I did about 40 min. of idle time and about an hour of 4-lo wheeling in my woods. 15 min. of the wheeling was doing a churn and burn to get out of some ruts my old Blazer on 38" Swampers made.

So, even though it shows that I lost 1mpg over the last couple of tanks, I think I actually gained some. I didn't record my last 4x4 adventures, but I would think that it would show some loss, whereas I'm right at my average according to the fuelly.com stats.

    I am happy so far.

I'm due for a fillup right now and this tank I did about 200miles of highway driving, both with and empty bed and a bed full of about 300lbs of furnace and tools and a 200lb passenger. The only downfall to this tank will be the 78mph average. I say downfall, but it will actually give me some real world numbers because that is my average highway speed.

Also, just to get a picture for everyone as to my driving habits. I am a "spirited" driver. I drive up long grades anywhere I go due to where I live.
In town, I drive 2-3mph over the limit, rural byways, 5-7mph over, and on the local freeways I push the 10 over mark, and on State Thruways, 12-13mph over depending on traffic.

I don't normally "smoke" the tires, but I will test the 4000+rpms from time to time. Most of the time I shift at 2000rpms on the flats and about 2500rpms on uphills.

So keep that in mind when reading my results!

    Take it easy all!:D

:yay:Sweet! Last tank, 17.2 mpg with mixed driving, no wheeling, some idleing! It's been 1000 or so miles since the snorkel was added. Maybe the computer is "learning"? :notsure: I never disconnected the battery after the install, maybe I should have, who knows?

Anyhow, I hope the trend keeps up!:D

Not sure if it's dirtier, but the location of the dirt is localized in one spot on the filter due to the ram air so it's not evenly placed across the entire filter like before. This could lead one to assume it is dirtier.

Unless someone actually tested the same truck stock/snorked in a scientific manner all your going to get is opinions.

Per Safari it should limit dust intake.

Personally I'm not sure. What I do know is my intake is now located 3' above where it used to be and that's good enough for me.

This could of posed an issue in the past

So it's been a little while and I don't think I gained a noticable amount of mileage with the snorkel. If I did, it's not much more than a partial mpg. I'm hovering at my "normal" summer mileage of 16 or so mpg's. I do alot of mixed driving, hills and wheeling. Windows down or AC on, still not much of a difference over the last couple of years without the snorkel.

One thing I did notice is that towing my popup camper didn't seem to change things either. Last tank was 15.9 mpgs. That tank had around 100miles of towing, not to mention the jockeying around in low-4 to position the camper where I wanted it and getting it leveled, so...maybe there is a little improvement.:notsure: Nothing dramatic though!

One guy out of the original Snorkel GB hydro-locked his engine...

Make sure all you guys check the fittings from the snorkel to the intake tube from time to time if you go and play in the water/mud. 16k for a new engine is not cool and neither is $4,500 for a used one with 30k on it.

I did not get any NOTICABLE gain or loss. I do like the sound of it though, and the added security it gives, if properly sealed.

I love the "can you go underwater with it?" No, probably not! It may keep water out of your motor, but it will not keep your fan from eating the radiator when it becomes a propellor!:DThat will happen before your intake is submerged!

Both of my last built Blazers had electric fans that could be shut off for water crossings, just for that reason.:)

haha yea I remember when we did that group buy, and most of us got all excited about possible mpg increase with the snorkel.

Now with school and all I can't afford to go do any serious off-roading because I can't afford to pay for serious repairs.

Also trying to save for a trip this summer, so we'll see how that goes! :D

We had a meet a few months ago here. While we had all the trucks parked in the lot a lady stopped by in her taco and said she liked my "exhaust".

I think the cold air/ram air effect might have something to do with any supposed mpg. improvement. I keep pretty anal records, and I did not show any major improvement...it does sound and look cool though!:D

So for four pages everyone is claiming MPG boosts of ~2 MPG and on the 5th page the consensus is no improvement? What happened?
