Where your pictures seem like they would be it says that you edited the post....

Anyway, I'm confused about the color. I wanted SWB but I was told that they no longer had it available. Mine is a 2010. Does that mean the stopped that color for a year or so and then brought it back?

yeah it was available on 11, i had erase the pics from my Dropbox dumb me, but when i edited i post them back.

A lot of ppl don't like the SWB but to me that was the only way to go ;) its a matter or choices.

The stealership probably wanted to sell you the truck quick so yest they might have lied

What it was, was that I wanted the cheapest truck but in the SWB. Maybe he meant that they didn't HAVE it in SWB at his dealership. I didn't see any trucks that color on the lot.

But I'm lucky to get what I got. I loves me my red truck. :)

Wow, spec on that S185 says operating weight 6220 pounds. So without a driver, wet weight of 6000. Add got to be another 2k for the trailer and you're hauling around 8000 pounds. TAKE THAT SPECIFICATIONS!!!!

They are light but the 4cyl has no problems at all.

I recently got set up with a Uhaul Trailer hitch package. The hitch is rated for well beyond my 4cyl Reg Cab 2wd towing capactiy. So that wont be an issue.

Im looking at towing a 18' 2800lb boat, minus fuel, ice, gear, cooler etc......

This can all be picked up locally before putting her in the water, at local gas stations. I think you get the idea here.

What are your thoughts on pulling something like this in and around Southern California marinas?

I pulled 3k lb trailer a 1000 miles with my 4 banger. it was 4x4 though and a manual. I kept it in 4th only had to down shift to third on some hills to hold my speed at 55. your truck should do fine considering socal.. been a while since ive been back but born and bred in san bernardino. slow and steady is the key. you will be surprised by what this little engine can do. and i got 17-18 mpg towing that load

    RyDaniels,
Thanks for the info. I was heavily debating going with the Manual, but I opted for the Auto because the old lady cant drive a manual. I should be rite at or around the 3000lb range. I have the ready lift with the rear helper springs which should make it a more comftable ride. I will post any problems or comments

I have an 08 2.7 4banger with 6 lugs. There is a fallacy in your logic yet again.

I just pulled my boat, 2300#,for the first time without any problems. 2012 Access 4 cyl. auto 5 lug. No trailer sway. I was worried it may not have enough weight in the ass, traction, to pull the boat out of the water , but it pulled it out no problem.

I just towed my 18' boat today for the first time, and it did great!!! It weights around 3,500 pounds so it's really pushing the towing capacity. But it did really good. I drove it on a hilly highway and it maintained 55 very easily. And pulled it out of a very very steep and slippery ramp with minimal wheel spin, power was not an issue just traction.

I was worried about it not being being able to make it up that ramp, but it did it!! :D

FWIW I back in the day I towed a 16' Chriscraft every week from Pacifica, Ca to Princeton, Ca. with this
    [IMG]

all I needed was the hitch and a set of air shocks. Granted it had a 305v8 but it was only 160 hp. I am just trying to show that a Tacoma should handle that boat easily-4 banger or not.

image.jpg image.jpg I loaded my 4cyl 5 speed with 20 gallons water/full tank of gas/2 five gallon jerry cans of fuel/three wheel barrels of mesquite wood/2 full coolers/ steel ramps/ quad full tank of gas/ tent/ gazebo/ self inflating mattress/ camp shower/sleeping bags pillows/ 25 pound bag charcoal/ riding gear. Almost riding on the bump stops doing 80 on the freeway with stock suspension from az to Cali to superstition mountain with no trailer a little bouncy but not too bad. I did the same thing again on the way to el golfo mx with kings x 4 and it was way easier but still wish I had a trailer. so I'm not putting so much strain on the payload and leafs.
