Inno Truck Bed Rack Review

This forum costs me way too much money...just ask my ex-wife, dogs, and drinking buddies!

I just installed the Inno Truck Rack Stays & Crossbars. While most people use the rack for bike and board transport, I decided to steal an idea from a fellow TW member. I mounted my Rola roof top carrier from my long dead Subaru on the crossbars.



Inno includes everything needed including a 4mm hex wrench. Installation of the bed rail stays to the C-channel was easy and required no tools. The crossbars are laid in after removing the top of the stay.



The finish of the stays is top rate. No rough edges or burrs. All holes were tapped correctly and offered no fastener resistance.

I do have a concern, however, with the extrusion mold used for the top section of the stay.



The top part of the stay is not seated correctly. And yes, I double-checked the instructions. The crossbars are 'right-side-up'. This could lead to a failure since the load is not properly distributed. I will be sending these pics to Inno and see what they say.

I like the design of Inno's C-channel system, but I would like a matte black option. The bright aluminum and glossy black plate look out of place on the Timberland Mica.

In general, I'm happy with Inno's rack system. I paid $167 w/ free shipping from ORS Racks Direct.

I'll update the review when Inno replies to the upper stay concerns.

 

Cool product. The clamps may be molded like that to accommodate other brands of cross bars. I agree on the bright aluminum though...

I've been looking at the Inno RT 102's for my SB Taco. I'm wondering If I can skip the crossbars from Inno and use some galvanized pipe or something similar from Home Depot but the inner diameter of the clamps look to big.

More importantly, I want to use the Innos for transporting wood and 4x8 sheet goods [MDF, PLY, etc]. How much weight do you think the Innos with the Inno crossbars could hold. I'm not talking 10 sheets but more like 2-3. I've only seen people transporting bikes, kayaks and what not and those things are super light.

Every time I decide on a track system for hauling kayaks or an old rooftop carrier, I stumble on another idea from a TW member. I joined the forum for that very reason. Any updates? How has it held up?

 

did the crossbars come with it?

 

Mine has been great. Its held up well while traveling with my RTT and mountain bikes. I've wheeled a good bit with just the tent mounted and had no problems. It's a great rack IMHO. I purchased the bars and bed rack mounts from Amazon for around $200 if I remember correctly. Thule bars will also work with the clamps.

Recently I've been bitten by the RTT bug and I've be scouring this site for pics and ideas. This really looks like it fits my needs. I have a question about the Inno part number. Is this the RT101/102? The clamps look different on their website. Also how has it held up over the years? Thanks

RT102 bolts to the utility track.
RT101 is for beds without a utility track.

 

Any update on the Durability of these with a RTT on top? also what length bars did you get?

 

Ok I got the bug as well on the RTT... But I need a roof rack or something like this... Only thing is I don't want it on all the time since this is my everyday driver... And I have a roll up Ton-Cover... For the price you stated was that for the clamps and 2 bars? What about the rack? Seems like you can easily take it off when not used...
