Vibration problem

my purchase of an '07 DC short bed is 1 week old and I'm now noticing a vibration problem. When in drive and stopped, I've got a vibration coming right up through the steering wheel. When I put it into neutral, it goes away. I've got the same vibration when accelerating but then when I let up off the gas and "coast", the vibration goes away. I don't notice anything over 2000rpms/35 mph. Much appreciative of any suggestions.

 

Same problem...sounds like a rear differential problem, just purchased mine as well and from what I hear it can cost up to 4 grand to fix. Suggestion?

 

I assume this is covered under the 3yr/36k warrenty? Anybody agree that I have a differential problem or any other suggestions? By the way, I just checked and was happy to discover the previous owner had the leaf TSB done.

 

there may be a tsb out for the transmission mount. may wanna look into that first.

 

is it a noise, or an actual movement of the steering wheel?

 

If its coming up through the steering wheel and you dont feel it over 35 mph. It might be that you tires need to be re-balanced...... $.02

 

I would say idle speed adjustment or transmission , but if it is going on while you are driving too.... I dunno

 

it is more than just noise but I'm hesitant to call it "movement". But it is a distinct movement that you can feel although not see.

The truck was supposedly aligned and balanced as part of the 160 pt certification but who knows if it was actually done or done correctly. I doubt it is the tire balance because the vibration is present when the truck is in drive, but not in motion. Shift into neutral and it goes away.

 

My tacomas vibration is different. Mine only vibes at 10-15 mph then goes away (not violent, just enough to notice). I changed the rear differential oil this past weekend and noticed a few metal shavings on the magnetic bolt, but nothing extreme. I flushed and replaced, and the vibe is still there. Also, my drivers rear tire is wearing outside first (uneven wear). Same on the right rear but not quite as bad. Thanks for yalls help! Suggestions and ideas appreciated!
