well I got a message on my voice mail the other day. it was the dealer saying that my truck is in high demand and he wants to buy it back. so i called him today and was talking to him and he said toyota has stopped making trucks as of 3 months ago and so that makes my truck worth its weight in gold cause he has none and no-one is trading any in. maybe this is my chance to get my SWB DC that I really wanted but couldnt afford when i got my black one last july. HOORAY for me!!!! let me know what you guys think?

Interesting. I'd be curious to know what they say. Do tell! I've thought about it as well, but our dealerships are overstocked with Tacomas they can't sell. So a great price to buy back but a so-so price to buy a new one may not be worth it. Make sure you ask what they would sell you what you want before you sell yours.

Dealers do this with everyone, I've had buy back offers on all 3 of my tacomas.

It's just a ploy to get you back to the dealership.

I would bet they don't offer you anything special.

Good luck guys, you may work out a deal, but use caution. A dealership is not in the business to help you save money, they are trying to make it.

I too recently got a letter in the mail stating they would buy back my truck at 110% of the KBB value. I wont be giving up my truck for a 10% gain.

:wave:This is a very tired and common sales tactic. Yawn.

Just looked at KBBand I dont think 110% of trade in would pay off my loan.

I do this for a living, Nothing against your truck but you won't get anything special. It's just a sales tactic. We have gone through autotrader before calling everyone selling a vehicle and telling them it was in high demand and we needed them to bring it in for us. However that does not mean you won't get a great deal anyhoW. Go for it, right now is a great time to buy a vehicle.

At least our Tacomas are worth something and are in demand....My last ride,an '05 Avalanche Z71,had a sticker of $50,200 (CAD),28 months later I tried to take it back two months early and lease another. The buyout was $29K but the truck was only worth $26K on the lot......50% depreciation in 28 months.

I will agree with that 100%. That was one of the deciding factors in me buying a tacoma. I have had people trade in several and was amazed everytime at how much they were worth when they were traded vs other makes/models of vehicles.

Absolutely,it's the first vehicle that I've truly felt I have options with.....Turn it back in,sell it outright for a profit or buy my own truck at lease-end for a discount of market value.

When I was looking at Tacoma's every dealership I went to would say the same thing about Tacoma's..."They are really hard to find". So I would go out to my pickup and get my list of 12 or so Tacoma's that were essentially the same (maybe different years) I was going to look at if I didn’t buy his. After showing them the "list" they had a different attitude. I hate it when salesmen (no offense to those salesmen here) take people for idiots.
