I'm looking for a truck box soon, and I have a question about the UWS.

I have seen pics of the lid open, and it's almost up against the back window.

I have a Clean Breeze truck screen over my sliding window. It adds about an inch to the rear window.

I need to know if the UWS box can be slid toward the back of the bed a couple of inches to gain clearance with the back window. Basically I need to know whether there is, when installed normally, a couple of inches clearance between the UWS and the wheel well humps in the bed.

Alright, here is what you meant I believe. It looks like the box will slide over the wheel well humps or whatever with no problem. Three more pictures are attached. I hope this helps. PM if you need another sort of picture or measurement. I'm heading to bed right now but tomorrow I can help you out.

Assuming you have a regular bed and also will get a uws low profile box, then it should slide as far back as you want to put it without issue.

uws makes alot of different size boxes tho, and I doubt that a larger square bottom one would work if your needing to slide it back, so keep that in mind.

Whiteboy and TruKnight, I don't suppose you have the model number of your boxes, do you?

I am looking at the one at Amazon here:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017HB3SS
(As comments on that site say, the picture is not the actual model being sold, it is a generic black UWS box. The actual box sold at that link is the low-profile one, TBS-63-A-LP-BLK )

Now that I think about it, it doesn't specify SB or LB, so...I guess that answers my question. (If it clears the wheelwells for the SB, then it can slide back on the LB.)

Thank you everyone! If I end up getting this one I'll post here when it's installed.

I used j-hooks, hooked into the bed rails and then run up through the box and secured with a nut and washer.

I'm debating whether to keep the second one Amazon sent me. They package them in the flimsiest packaging, the first one was so beat up I refused it. This one looked fine when I inspected it briefly on delivery, but when I opened up the box -- there was a puncture on the box along one side, which resulted in a big dent in the lid edge (including the hinge), and there are dents along one edge on the bottom seam.

I'm going to see whether the lid operates OK, and see if I can straighten that edge and hinge. I'm also going to talk with Amazon about some sort of compensation, since they can't seem to get the thing to me undamaged. :/

Yeah, I watched Craigslists for my area, and in a month only saw Kobalt tool boxes and off-brands.

I have the UWS box but the standard height, not that lowpro that you hooligans like hah but i just noticed the other day that when my lid is open it rests on the rubber window seals. I don't open it often so it doesn't bother me
