I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
Give him some time. He sees that he is letting you have HIS truck. Once he gets a new one he won't worry about it so much.

    What about me? :p

My mom wouldn't let me mod the truck at first because she was paying for it, then I stepped up and helped and now I do whatever I want (if I have money...) because I'm paying for it now! Plus in three months it will be in my name. :D

    haha You too Derek;)

Yeah thats what my dad said. You can do whatever you want as long as you have the money. Like Paul said once my dad gets over the fact i will be in my own car and gets his own. It will be different

Good luck man, seriously. When you get a little older, it's not your Dad telling you, you can't mod, but your Wife!

I woulda done backflips if I got a tacoma before i was even 16. My first truck was a 87 hardbody nissan pickup i paid 400 bucks for. Transmission slipped so bad i couldnt pull onto a main road if there was a car comin towards me a mile away. Be thankful for what you have already. Compare that truck to anybody elses vehicle at your highschool. Its pretty damn big to have something like that when your 16. You'll look back one day and see what im sayin

About the people at my Highschool..... I have a Taco that im happy about. But there are some spoiled people at my school though.

You mostly see Caddys, Toyotas (FJ and 2 Tacos), a bunch of new lifted Chevys and Fords, Jeeps, BMW, Merc, VW, etc.

no offense doode, but dont complain. Its still a new truck, you also gotta think about a warrenty they paid for and the like. Who says you cant take the truck and trade it in on something a few years older, say an 04 or something, then mod it to how you want..You did say he said you couldnt trade it in on something AS nice as the 06, but you can sure find NIICE 04's...Then in a few years get an 09 left over or something...You gotta prove to your pops your responsible.

Hell i earned my first vehicle...Parents laid out the money for it, and I got a full time job(while still in highschool) shortly after and paid them back, along with insurance on it. Once it was paid off, I put a 4" lift kit on it and 33" mud terrains. parents didnt care since it showed them I had iniciative(sp)

They were a bit bummed that I wheeled it so hardcore thou since it was a creampuff when I got my jeep(first vehicle)

sorry kid...suck it up and enjoy what you have been GIVEN and quite complaining that you can't do something to it. Would you whine about a free glass of lemonade?

Any kid that is GIVEN a 20k vehicle before they are 16 are spoiled. As others have already pointed out...it took them YEARS to EARN that opportunity to even purchase a vehicle that expensive.

Enjoy what has been given to you and quit whining about modding it. You'll soon wear your dad down enough to where he'll give in and you'll get to do what ever you want.;)
