I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.

bill, how extensive is your knowledge on driveshafts? I bought a different drive shaft for the rear of the jeep and its dented in where the grease zerk is (slip joint). It looks like I could possible tap and and thread a new one in. Got any opinions?

Ok... I've got the new bearings in and the Runner is driving like new... Who wants to go break the bearing in with me? I'm open to Saturday or Sunday riding... Let me know. Oh and Paul... I think what you are saying is that the grease fitting spot is dented? And if so yes you are correct that you should be abel to put a new grease fitting in. Some are threaded and some are not. If you get the threaded variety you should be able to push and turn and it thread it's self in... just my 2 cents...

I think I got what you are saying. Any chance you could take a picture? Just to be sure. Normally most universals can be fitted with Zerks.

It's not the U-joint.. It's the actual shaft. It's a Slip Shaft out of the front of a Jeep Cherokee. On the end that slips it has a grease zerk on the outer most cylinder of the shaft and it looks like it to a rock to the zerk and just slightly dented in the outer cylinder enough to pop the zerk out...

Well, it's official. Unless something crazy happens, the taco will be at the New owners house as soon as I receive the title in the mail next week. In trade, I'll have that bike I posted up, all the riding gear, a 6' x 12' trailer and a 2000 taco 5lugger. This included him paying off my truck too by the way. Without any more payments, I'll have me a off-road taco or pre taco withing a couple months max. A awesome gas mileage taco to put around in. And a crazy fast bike for when I want my balls to shrivel up all of a sudden.

    :D

Oh! Got ya. Yes, you can replace Zerks sometimes. It depends on how hard it got ripped out. If not, you have the option to fill the old hole with a silicone sealant, then drill a new hole for a fresh Zerk.

I'll likely be looking for a pre 85 taco with a factory solid axle. I already talked to a guy who has an 84 in great working mechanical order for an awesome price. I'll still have an entire closet full of second gen crap I'll need to sell/give away after this deal is completed. I won't have any use for any of it after this.

So tired of trying to keep this truck pristine, this is the perfect deal for me. I actually have a set of spacers and an aal that I will be selling, too.

That's cool. If the axles can handle the weight, use it to pull the 84 pickup
Unless you can drive it on the street
