Yokohama Geolander HTS

Yokohama Geolander HTS................Anyone runnin em? Likey, no likey??? Thinking about getting some put on next week on my 04 PreRunner D-cab in the stock 265-70-16 size. Got a price of $552.52 out the door at Tires Plus locally here.

 

I bought a set of Geolander HTS 265-70-16 for my 06 Prerunner D-Cab long bed last week. I paid $800 drive out at Discount Tire (with insurance), so I envy your price. OEM was Dunlop Grand Trek AT20 in 245-75-16 which had 60K on them.

So far, I have no complaints, I live SW of Houston, TX and rain has been very scarce lately so I don't know yet how they will perform on wet roads, but I'm confident they will do fine. The Geolanders are quieter than the Dunlops at highway speed which is a plus in my book. The slightly wider and beefier profile look better too. No problems with clearance.

The reason I didn't stay with the Dunlops is they started getting poor traction on wet roads. When I go to work there is an intersection where I have to turn onto a road with 55 mph speed limit that is about 2 feet higher than the road I am on. They were fine when new, but as they wore, I had to be more and more conservative about pulling out into traffic at this intersection when wet. I finally called b.s. 2 weeks ago when driving on a wet road at <25 mph and had to slow down for a changing light and the abs kicked in. This happened 2 more times that day. I consider myself a conservative-normal driver so I decided that was it for these tires. The Dunlops were well worn but could have easily passed inspection. I think traction degraded because all those little fine sipes in the tread are not cut near as deep as the main tread and wore off long before most people would think of replacing a tire. If not for that, I probably could have easily got 75K out of them.
