Cost to turn off the seat belt chime in a 2012

For those of you that have had this done, what did the dealer charge you?
Scheduled for maintenance tomorrow and told them I want the chime turned off.

Actually had a buddy that did this with his truck. He paid like $50, but he also was friends with the service guys at the dealership, so that may be the "discounted" price...

 

Should be free, maybe call your sales person and ask if he could get the mgr to approve it as a condition or part of the deal? Just a thought... I have heard here that some have paid between $50-100
I am able to turn mine off, or back on (09), but I think the procedure does not work for the new trucks...or maybe there is a different procedure figured out?

Meh, he is exceptionally lazy. One of those dudes that won't change his own oil... Not because he doesn't know how, but because he would rather spend 2 hours at the dealer than an hour doing it on his own.

They did mine for free. I was at the dealership for my 10k service and asked them if they could turn it off because my dog sits on the front seat and sets off the alarm. The guy at the counter didn't know so he asked one of the mservice techs and he said it was no problem.

 

Had a Toyota mechanic buddy do mine for free. Dealer I bought my truck at wouldn't do it siting some safety nonsense.

sounds like the key right there. Tell them your dog is setting it off. how can they argue with that?!

Just did mine a couple of weeks ago. They wanted $50 to hook up the computer and turn off. I pressed them as I've bought numerous vehicles from them and they reduced to $25.00. I thought that was reasonable.

 

Heck, the way the animal laws are getting, where therre is a $30 fine for a person not buckling, there is probably an additional prison sentence if a dog. Prison for you, the driver that is....

 

They wouldn't do mine, had some smart allec answer like "you're supposed to wear your seatbelt anyways" I was like yeah and I do but that's not the point.

 

Four easy steps:

1-go to salvage yard
2-find a Toyota
3-cut seatbelts and remove latch
4-insert latch into seatbelt on your truck

 

Why not just where your seatbelt and be safe?

 

what if you're on your own ranch? or hunting where you are driving really slow and need to get out quick? (for the cheesy road hunters that is.)
It's not unsafe to go without a seatbelt in all circumstances.

 

I wear my seat belt 100% of the time. I rarely have it buckled when I start my truck so the chime is irritating. No safety factor involved.

 

The sales person SHOULD go over customizable settings prior to delivery so they can be changed during the PDI. You can normally get the selling/servicing dealer to change the settings the first time within 6 mo to a year for free, but this all depends on the dealer. If you do your own work don't expect the dealer to do you a favor
