Truck won't move

My dad has a 2009 trd offroad DCSB and when he got in it this morning to go to work it would not move forward or backward. The parking brake is off. It feels like the front brakes are stuck. Last night he washed it, could something have gotten wet? I'm really not sure what to do because he took my car and his truck still won't move.

 

Is it manual or automatic transmission?

 

Did he put it in drive?

That sucks though, and is very odd.

 

It is an automatic.

 

Do the back wheels spin after you put it in gear? You should still move even if the front brakes are locked up...

 

That happened to me after washing once , just give it some gas , it'll break loose

 

you rear brakes are stuck because moisture got into them. You have to gas hard to break them free. This used to happen to me all the time with the brake shoes that came with my truck. I got fed up with that and bought some Wagner Quiet Stop brake shoes. It has been several of years and the rear brakes haven't locked up since

 

Yes, the back tires spin and the truck will move but the front tires just drag.

 

That's what I thought at first, but when I tried giving it some gas nothing happened. The back tires just spun and left two cool 3ft marks on my driveway.

 

Put the front end on jack stands and take the tires off and check out the brakes. Maybe use pliers to try to pry the calibers apart to get them off of the rotors and such. Just be careful not to damage the brake pads with the pliers.

 

Is it a 4wd? Also if you lift on wheel off the ground can you spin it by hand?

 

Yes it's 4WD. I haven't lifted it off the ground yet, I was hoping it would be something really simple.

 

You tried putting it in 4 low and trying to move it?

 

I did try, but nothing changed. It would move forward, but the brakes didn't break loose.

 

I'd jack it up and see what's going on under there.

 

That's what I will end up doing later tonight unless it magically fixes itself.

Im thinking that you didnt actually get it into 4L. 4L would definitely break it loose.

First turn knob to 4H, wait until it fully engages, might require you to jolt the thing front and back a little in order to align the front shaft ADD, then when it is in 4H, crank the knob the rest of the way to 4L. In each stage, make sure the light does NOT blink. If its blinking, it didnt get there all the way. ALSO engage the ATRAC when doing this, and rear locker. Once done, rock it back and forth a bit, then give it. Should pop fairly hard. One of my previous vehicles sat a couple years before i got it, had to work it out of frozen brakes like this.

 

I did have it in L4, no lights were blinking and it moved forward very slowly but the breaks didn't come loose.

 

I'm surprised you got it into 4wd at all if the front tires won't move. It must have been seized in just the right spot to lock up the A.D.D. I would just stop trying to drive it before you break a gear or driveline or make a flat spot on your tires haha and wait until you can get it off the ground and look at everything.
