Yakima roof rack suggestions

So I found a good deal on a Yakima roof rack on Craigslist. Only problem is the fairing is 50" instead of 44" like what is suggested when you 'fit my car' on the yakima website. I am wondering if anyone uses/ has seen an 05+ tacoma with a 50" yakima fairing? Pics would be great. This is about the only one I could verify as a 50" fairing from google search. Thoughts?

 

Man I worked for an outdoor company forever and farring is personal pref. All it is doing is blocking the high sound wind noise, if the 50" does that and you don't mind the looks of it, keep it. If you don't like the looks, sell it and get the 44" theres no solid right or wrong, your call

 

I had a Yakima rack system with the 44" fairing and it worked pretty good. From the looks of it, that 50" should work just fine to and it doesnt look bad at all. Like the other post says, if your worried that much about looks, just sell it and get the 44".

 

Yea I might as well get the thing on there and decide then. I want it mostly for the looks. Need somewhere to put my stickers!

 

I know with my 44" fairing when the wind got really bad and sometimes out on the highway the front bottom corners would sometimes bottom out and start tapping on the roof and it would get annoying. So maybe with the longer fairing it wont have that issue.

Sometimes a fairing is not needed. I ran a rack system without one because it got in the way of tying stuff down to the bars. Try it without. Some trucks don't get the wind noise. Mine didn't.

 

I wouldn't cut it, Fairing is expensive and it doesn't lose value. So keep it how it is and if you don't like it sell it, and use that $ towards a 44"

I will be needed, I ran that exact roof rack on my tacoma and it howled like crazy, It does get in the way but you'll be ahppy you have it.

 

I know this thread is kinda old but I recently got a pop-up camper and it desperately needs a fairing. OP did you end up getting the longer fairing? I'm thinking it is the way to go with my new setup.

 

I'm gonna keep this thread going a bit longer. What Q-clips are used for the front set of towers?
