i just realized i've had my 2005 tacoma (standard cab base 4x4) for 50,000 miles now. Bought her May of 2009 i think with 39900 miles on her. just turned 89900 on my way to work this morning. all in all, i dont have many complains for this truck. here are the only real complaints i have over the last 50K miles.

    1. The clutch pedal. Really Toyota? Plastic parts into metal receivers? i've had the pedal replaced once due to the plastic falling apart and too much side to side play in the pedal. now, it just creaks all the time. not a huge deal, but does get annoying sometimes.

    2. The leaf springs. my springs have been shot for about 10k miles now. i hate that Toyota used such weak springs for these trucks, yet in PA in qualifies for a class 2 weight class sticker...

    3. The wheel bearings. I hate that mine were shot at 70K miles. that is waay to soon for a daily driven (95% on road) vehicle.

    4. The rear diff howls at 65 mph. there is a TSB for this, but it started after i was out of my 60K mile warranty. so for now, i'm keeping my eye on it.

other than those 4 things, i love this truck. relatively good gas mpg for a 4x4 truck, love the looks, i turn the key and she starts every time with no hesitation, and she has never left my stranded anywhere ever.

just figured i'd give my short report.

    looks great man.

I replaced the leafs on my 06 with 2011 leaf packs because mine went absolutely flat.

My wheel bearings went out at 90k. not too bad.

nice write up. good to hear what kind of issues other members are having.

yeah, from what i've read they seem to be pretty common issues.
