You gotta plug the hole in the bucket before you fill it back up with water.

There is a reason we are broke.

If we could take all the money we needed and get out of this hole we are in, the same problems will still be there....and next time there won't be anyone with any money cause we took it all from them last time.

Us being broke isn't the problem, its a byproduct of the problem.

You do realize that with our debt-based money system, the amount owed to the lenders is by necessity greater than all the monetary amounts in existence

    It CAN'T be paid back

I'm more pissed about the $60,000 I pay in property taxes each year than income taxes, to be frank... a flat tax works for me... 15% across the board and eliminate property taxes (since were fantasizing)

    I'm for no income tax.

Institute a federal sales tax of 5%, and an additional 5% tax on all luxury goods. This is effectively a consumption tax. The more you buy, the more overall tax you pay. As consumers, we can control what, when, and if we purchase an item. This means ALL Americans, and all persons purchasing items within the US (tourists, and illegal aliens) pay for what they want.

The downside is the potential for black market goods... however, this is already a problem in many product areas as it stands (entertainment media for one). Hell, it couldn't be much worse than the thousands of personal/corporate tax loopholes and the approximately 48% of Americans that pay no income tax now (this does not include an estimated 15-18 million illegal aliens who avoid income tax altogether).

To me, this equates to a true fair share of the tax burden. In any case, I'm for EACH American (and those within our borders) paying their share... EVERYONE regardless of income bracket. Everyone must have a stake. When a group of people have no stake, they are likely to support any policy or series of policies that will allow them to continue their "free ride." Producers cannot support the non-producers forever without limit. See Greece, for example.

I run my business like this... real simple... more money comes in the door than goes out - BAAAAAAAAAAAAM! Sometimes decreasing expenses make me much more money than raising my rental rates... odd friken concept for the big government mentality to grasp... Of course many of our elected officials have never had to turn a profit in private enterprise.

The US is on the same path as countries that are forced to impose massive austerity measures

I small dose of pain now for the greater good or lots later
