    Hey all,

I am brand new to tacomas, but have an opportunity to buy an 06 TRD Access Cab with 44K miles for 18,000. In my area, that is a good deal since most 06 are going for over 20K dollars.

What should I check before I buy it? I am going to look at the motor mounts to see if they look good. Anything else I should worry about?

    Thanks!

Sorry for the bump but this was almost off of the first page without a single view! Boring post I guess.

I have heard of airbag recalls, motor mount issues (mostly '05 but also '06), and weak tailgates. I want to make sure that I don't regret a purchase. I don't have a lot of money to throw away.

    Thanks

I have an 06 Double Cab TRD and I could not be happier with it. It has a 2.5" lift in the front and rear, 1.5" wheel spacers (Spidertrax), Westin Bull Bar, Westin Side Rails, Leer Color matched top, just painted the engine cover, window vents, URD CAI and a few other odds and ends. Check the car fax and ask the dealer to verify all the TSB's are current and complete. Then GO FOR IT!!

Like Badguy said, get a carfax report and check it out. Make sure it doesn't have a salvage title as they can look good. I picked up a 06 double cab TRD off-road this week in San Diego, CA for $17k with only 16K miles and still under warranty. I feel I stole it as the dealers out here want 21K+ with less options than what this one has. If it all checks out go for it.

Wow, that is an awesome deal. You've got to be happy with that one.

Yea, I kinda lucked out on this one. Was only looking for a few days when I found it. Came with a Snugtop tonneau cover and had lojack already installed. Not a scratch on the body. Really like this one.

I just crawled under and tried to see the area in my friends 2007. I couldn't find where to look. I have seen all of the photos from the sticky, but I don't know if I should crawl in from behind the front wheels of from the front of the truck. It looks like it should be from the front just to side of the steering linkage.

Thanks, I am going tonight after work to see the truck.
