No mods!!!!

Yeah, we older types are just jealous because we had to work hard our whole lives before we were able to have a nice new Tacoma. I don't have children so I can't say if I'd buy my son a nice truck, although both my brothers have bought my nieces and nephews used vehicles over the years....just not as cool as yours.

Enjoy it but continue to earn it, work hard to make money for your mods and continue to prove that you are mature enough to deserve such a nice vehicle. I bet your Dad will let you do a few things to it once you convince him you are responsible enough to make those decisions.

 

This is the typical teen mentality speaking loud and clear and with the thinking there is nothing wrong with it. Almost all the support for this has come from other guys that are close in age with the same ideals/thinking. Not surprised at that at all. It's just the way this young generation thinks.

Not sure where or how this "entitlement/I'm owed this" type of mentality started. You have not earned a free truck at age 15 by following simple rules. You are doing what you are supposed to be doing to be successful in life. After a job, some cash flow, some proven responsibility in your finances and some more maturity, you are on the way to "earning" something. As we get older, bigger and better things come along with that responsibility. You haven't arrived just yet. You are on the way though if you are doing well in school, staying off drugs/alcohol and following the rules your parents have set out.

I really hope you do go above and beyond any expectations set out for you with this truck. Just getting something like this is above and beyond the norm at your age.

 

Wanna trade....all you have to do is support a stay at home mom, 3 kids (11, 9, and 4 yrs old), work night shift 11PM-7AM, drive 1.25 hrs to and from work, and work 2 OT slots per week, pay a house mortgage, pay for a new tacoma and a Dodge Magnum, buy groceries, pay car insurance, pay for gas, pay the cell phone bill, the light bill, buy clothes, medical and dental insurance, satellite TV bill, union dues, dry cleaning bill...and probably many other bills I'm forgetting about.


Oh yeah...if you wanna trade you must 1st post pics of your hot 19 yr old g/f's....My wife is pretty smokin' ...so I gotta know what I'm getting in return!!

 

Although I do agree that it is not exactly right and that my parents would never do this, he didnt go to them asking for the truck, they brought it home and gave it to them. I think it falls under the realm of soiled to get a new truck this young, but I donot feel it is my place to bust his balls over it. He got dealt a good card in life and now he wants to capitolize on it. It wasnt his choice or the product of begging, his parents gave it to him and now he wants to make it the best he can! Maybe if I knew him and him family personally I would speak my mind about it. I also am slightly offended that you blanketed my generation with that assumption that we are all spoiled.

 

That's complete nonsense. When you grow up, you'll realize exactly that. I'd REALLY like to know exactly what it is that you "went through" to get your vehicle. Did you work 10 hour days like I do while caring for an infant and struggling to pay bills some months? "Tough to be a kid now a day"? You HAVE to be kidding me.

Having said that, there is NOTHING wrong with a parent buying their child a nice vehicle. NOTHING at all. Those folks probably worked hard their whole lives so they could give their children nice things and there just isn't anything wrong with that. HOWEVER, I would hope that they've instilled a sense of responsibility in their children at the same time so they don't end up being unappreciative "I deserve it because I breathe" types like the child I quoted above.

You just made the exact same implication you did before. This isnt a place for personal attacks and that is how I am reading this by implying that my generation has an everlasting sense of entitlement. Now seriously guys, he doesnt need your $.02 on his situation. He came for help and if you can't give it to him, move on to the next thread and quite wasting his time over something he doesnt control.

Now if you wanted to make a useful post, you could give him your perspective on being a father to an 18 year old daughter. What could she do that would make you think she was responsible enough to personalize a car.

im 16 and payed for my own taco, i service it myelf and i also own a boat and trailer i payed for. and am currently working on

i am considered spoiled at my school because i have a what everyone thinks is a new truck trailer and boat.

my truck is an 02 with 207k miles
trailer is one i am still rebuilding
boat is almost new i admit but i payed for it


everyone else at my school has a vehicle no older than 06 (serious)
a big big boat at there river homes beach homes ect
and they dont pay for either

im in hs, i work 39 hours a week on 7.05 plus commission

i recently quit my job (2 weeks notice) and have upgraded to 8.50 mon-fri
and 8.50 an hour plus tips sat-sun

plus im a probational fire fighter
you can do it yourself, just work hard at it

The OP was mad his dad would not allow him to mod his truck. And as others have ALSO said (in one form or another) to suck it up and just enjoy the truck GIVEN to you.

I'm done, it's fruitless to even attempt to try to get you to see it any other way. You win. I'm just glad I don't have your mentality in life. No way I'd want to be a kid these days...not with that attitude/mentality at least. More power to ya.

 

just do what i said get a job and pay for your own stuff and hell prolly ease up on the rule. just make sure you manage your time and your grades dont slip cause then hed tighten up the rules

Why would you post on here that your dad had too much wine? Did you ever stop and think that maybe your dad has some adult problems such as money issues or is worried about his job? When you get older you will understand that some mods are really not important in the big picture.
