^That's really what it boils down to, isn't it? Lentsh needs to ask himself this question: Are a few mods more important to me than my relationship with my father?

We are WAY MORE than aware of the situation around his dad and the truck. He came here for help, not to get beat down for it. Like i said, i don't agree with the situation but he asked for help. If all you know how to do is bust his balls suck it up and don't post and more on to the next thread. Because at this point, the OP and anyone else could care less what you think

I know where you're coming from, my dad bought me a car for graduating high school, and he didn't let me mod it either.

I thought it was unfair, because I had to stand out in the new school, show individuality, blah, blah, blah, blah. People accused me of being spoiled too.

Anyway, it took me a few years to see his point. Your dad spent the dough to pick up an awesome truck for you out of the box. He didn't cheap out and buy you something that needed modification. And what happens if he did let you mod it, and something went wrong? Are you going to cover the costs to get it back on the road, or is that's another bill your dad is going to get stuck with?

I'm sure you deserve it, but you sure as heck came off a spoiled little dude in your first post. After 5 pages of posts, I think you know how to handle this

Well I was also in a really bad mood last night. I slept on this issue and I just gave it a positive thought.

Leave the kid alone, if he got a Tacoma at 16 I am HAPPY for him, I wish him the BEST. It was his parents decision to give him the truck, that does not make him spoiled and that does not make it wrong. As I said before, most parent want the best for their kids, I would definitely prefer my kid in a safe reliable car, if I can afford a 20K car for him then a 20K for him I will get. This does not mean that I will spoil him. If he treats it wrong or he does not appreciate the effort I made to give him that kind of car then there will be consequences.

I was raised this way, both of my brothers and me got new cars when we were 17~18, we are now 1 Electrical Engineers, 1 Mechanical Engineer and 1 soon to be electrical engineer graduate. We all respected our parents and we treated our cars like jewels and we recognized that our parents made an effort to give us the cars, we respect and deeply appreciate our parents and we all wanted to do mods to the car at that age and our father loved when he saw things we added to the truck, even helped us when we could not afford it. Neither of us turned out a spoiled kid, we respect our and others property. We recognized that success is not easy to achieve and that to get what you want you got to work HARD and we all work HARD.

Me and my dad are very close I mean when I have an issue he can UNDERSTAND I always talk to him face to face.

But when my parents told me that it was my truck I told him that I was going to mod it. He said thats fine Im with you 100%. He was living with the mod idea since I was old enough to read Truck Magazine.

Holy crap guys:annoyed:!!! So what if he has a nice truck at the age of 15! So what if his dad gave him a nice truck and now refuses to let him put mods on it! I'm 16 and look at the truck i have.
Lay off! MOST of you guys dont have to worry about this cause your on your own and can do whatever you want to your truck
Lents, I feel for ya bro!

^I'm not quite sure I follow you. You might want to explain yourself further so us old farts understand your point.

hes trying to say: that adults and teens have very different ways of thinking and expressing things, also that we have different opinions in certain situations to our old fart counter parts

what i said before still stands though, get a job, pitchin some money while keeping your grades up and your dad just may change his mind

and for all the bashers, just cut it out, he asked for help on how to deal with it, he never complained or whines, he just wants to figure out how to change minds.

quit bein jealous n move on ;D

Everybody is missing the point! He asked for help not an open discussion on the situation with his father. If you can't help him out, just don't post

There's a reason for that and it has been explained over and over. The fact is, young people like yourself just don't get it. It's really that simple. The entire premise of this thread was Lentsh upset because he can't do mods on the truck his father bought him. If you can't see a problem with that, you will when you're older. And don't give me any of the "not ALL young people..." stuff because I've been there myself and I remember exactly what my teen years were like.

dgerm, his original intent doesn't matter. This is the internet and people say what they want and there's nothing you can do to control it.
