Calling all Virginians (Tidewater area)

This does not surprise me. Have you ever noticed all the small chips these windshield's get. I thought they were just dirt and realized they were a crap ton of small chips.

Hey Enders, if you don't mind me asking, what's the "reckless" speed in VA? (I'm from CA). One of my sailors got tagged at 18 over. Just curious so we can make an issue of it at our next training morning.

Oh, and I'm with that other guy! I hate speeders (unless it's me, then it's OK cuz I drove ambulances for 10 years, and I'm a known narcissist ).

Had to be something to do with the rearview button. Technician who's done this for 9 years says he's seen this a few times almost exactly the same way mine happened. Not on another Taco though.

 

There are a few ways you can be caught here
Speeding 20 over or anything over 80mph
Street racing, and the statute is surprisingly easy to prove
Aggressive driving (requires a combination tailgating, rapid lane changes, hard acceleration and braking, speeding that may not reckless on its own)
By defective equipment (brakes, steering, tires and in some cases suspension. If these systems are not working correctly, or say the tires are down to the steel cords, operation of that vehicle in that condition is a public safety hazard.)


Since its for training, you should be aware of the full ramifications.

In Virginia, reckless driving is a criminal infraction. Its a class one misdemeanor (one step down from a class 6 felony) that carries maximum penalties of up to one year in jail, a fine not to exceed $2,500, and up to 6 months loss of driving privileges or any combination of the three. Virginia cannot suspend out of state operators licenses, but can suspend a persons privilege to drive here in Virginia regardless of where they are licensed. As it is a criminal infraction, it becomes part of their permanent driving record and does not fall off like a speeding ticket would. It also can effect one's ability to get a secret or higher clearance and ones ability to maintain it.

if that's the case, why are there so many drivers on Jefferson and I-64? The way most assholes on those roads drive, every one of them can be cited for reckless driving

I has at least 3 people get mad at me daily for not hammering down on the gas when it's time to go, or coasting to a red light

 

They do..... now they riding dirty on a suspended license.....

 

Thanks Enders. I'll cut/paste your response and send it to our chief so he can bring it up. I think she got cited for 73, ie, 18mph over. I think she was doing faster, but got cut a break (can't complain, I have too a few times at that age).

With active duty that has clean driving records, I'll write for simple speeding, but still note the actual speed they were clocked at. Higher fine, more points on e license, but not rd.
