I can't live with the short bed, or I'd buy one.

Toyota is in the business of selling trucks. They'll sell all of these.

There's more than 6 million people in the US that can buy this truck with cash. Toyota only needs 700 of them to do so.

10 years from now, people who bought 'em will get a premium well above stock and or modded units which is generally the case for "special edition" models of already popular vehicles.

It wasn't built for serious off roaders and other enthusiasts. They were built to haul the baseball equipment to the diamond by coach-dad and handle a beginners drive on the dunes at weekend.

Have fun making fun of these people now, because as you age, you will likely become one of them.

Well said. However, I think this truck works well for people a little more advanced than a baseball coach or beginner, as well. Put a Shrockworks on front with a winch, maybe a CBI Offroad rear bumper with tire carrier, and some skids underneath, and this truck could handle some pretty tough trails in MOAB. Rubicon, etc.

This truck is not a rock buggy...not going to pull a 40 foot yacht...not going to win the Baja 1000...there are other setups for that.

    What this truck IS.....damn sweet....

...and finally Toyota making an honest effort at an out-of-the-box off road beast. This truck will maintain its value much longer than any other Tacoma model out there.

And while I am on a roll...

..for those that do buy "cheaper" and do your own mods...how much time do you spend doing the work? And possibly having to redo something because it wasn't just right?

There is a money value to that time. Add the hours you put in to ' save the labor cost of a professional' and multiply it by what the hourly rate is at your day job. My bet is that your hours plus the parts comes darn close, if not possibly more, than the cost of the Bad Ass Baja Editions.

And I will put my pink slip on the line that the Baja will match you trail for trail out in the wilderness. Cause that is really where the money talks and the bullshit walks.

Okay. Now that I got that out if my system for the haters out there, I feel better. Carry on with the Baja Love!

the TRD wheels are not THAT nice or special, him painting them made them better for him, and IMO it didn't fix or ruin anything.

The only Baja that I have seen had an $39,000 price tag. That's ford Raptor price range. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't charge you for the off road package and the Baja. I just don't see the value in the product.

For the record, with my icon suspension, Gibson exhaust, 8" wide wheels and 33" tires, short shifter, and allpro front bumper and sliders, and pioneer nav with Polk speakers my total savings over the Baja I've seen is $2500 before the sale of take off parts.

    this.

also, you take a base and add mods and you are losing value. A) you have a base taco, B) the truck loses value with every mod you add (for the most part).

if you got the money, buy it. if you don't, build it.
some people's time is worth more than others. spending the time to research and shop for shocks, tires, wheels, and then finding the right place to install, etc. OR just spend the extra 5k to begin with and add everything. who cares.

people who have 10,000 posts + on here obviously have the extra time to find and install parts, no problem at all with that. others just want the finished product.

i don't care either way. i think its a cool truck. the i don't have the kind of money to buy it, so i wouldn't.

I love those wheels. TRD wheels look the best. I have been researching wheels since I joined yesterday and I wish I could pony up money for the TRD ones. They look tough, yet classy. Hard to find this combo elsewhere.
