Yeah I'm not too worried about mine not performing correctly. I just liked the perks of the electric fan. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

That was a higher than usual temp, but I was doing like 5 mph in 95* weather with the AC on, so it wasn't higher for no reason and was still a safe temp.

The perks I was reading about are engine noise, a lot of people claim the engine is damn near silent when the e-fan is off, meanwhile the direct drive fan roars away all the time. People said their engines warm up faster with e-fan being off during warmup, slight (very slight) increase in mileage due to fan being off at cruising speeds. There is supposed to be a pretty good increase in throttle response as well.

An actual real perk, (although one I may never need) is that you can turn it off for deep water crossings. Some people said they went electric after they destroyed their direct drives in water crossings.

That would be interesting actually. You're up travel would be limited by the spacer, but you should have more down travel, unless you max out your ball joints.

I want to unbolt my coilovers and see how much more down travel my LBJ's have. I seem to recall that I had a hard time installing my 5100's because I almost couldn't push my LCA down enough to get them in. If that is the case then there would be no point in getting extended coilovers cuz I have already maxed out my LBJ travel. I have heard that most of the ext. travel CO's are only an inch longer than the OEM length anyway. This all applies to 2nd gens though. Don't know anything about the 1st's.

Edit: "You're up travel would be limited by the spacer" <- This is kind of debatable though... It would depend on how much up travel your BJ's allow.

    .
I understand its a stepping stone to midtravel (where I want to go) but if you are going to have the lowgrade lift for a "couple of years" I would rather lift it a "better" way let's say a spacer and replace/upgrade my shocks while I'm at it. That guy that said 5100s are no better then a spacer is full of shit and you have to know it man haha!

There definitely seems to be a huge bias on TW towards spacers. haha. Whether that is justified or not I just don't know, but I did get plenty of comments on how smooth my taco rides in Moab, and I thought people were crazy, it road so much smoother prior to the 886's and the KM2's. haha.

As far as travel goes for the 2nd gens, you really can't get much more than stock without going long travel from what I have read. I don't remember the exact numbers but I think you can gain about an inch or two of travel by getting longer shocks and new UCA's, but after that the LBJ's are what limit you. Total Chaos is the only company that makes stock length aftermarket LCA's for the 2nd gens and I couldn't find any confirmation as to whether you actually got more travel out of them or not. Either way those LCA's are so expensive you should just LT it unless you have a damn good reason you can't LT it.

it's just a more effective, better way of lifting it. I don't want to get into geometry shit, i don't care that much or have time. If that's the case then why isn't every truck on here running spacers?

I think I'm going to bring this back up.

One thing to think about to, is I think about of the bias might come from how bad blocks are on leafs springs. You got an AAL instead of blocks so you only have half of a spacer lift. haha
