    Arguing over who left the playoffs earlier is pointless. It's more about your teams commitment to be competitive yr after yr. Be honest who would you rather have Crosby and Malkin or Gabroik and Rickards?

    Don't worry. two games into the season he'll get another concussion. Being out for months, being paid millions more than a healthy player. Smart move on the penguins part there:rolleyes:

    Yeah but as a PR move and business move you really can't let him go.

    Interesting article because it makes you think. First off, it is unlikely Burke would offer Schneider such a ludicrous sum. His response to Edmonton's offer sheet on RFA Pancakes Penner so long ago when he was in Anaheim makes that perfectly clear. Furthermore, Schneider is significantly less proven than Penner was at that time. Schneider has never played a heavy workload at this level. Secondly, In this article, Cox's reasoning is based on the assumption that Luongo actually wants to play in T.O. Don't forget it is Luongo who holds the trump card in this game of pricks, not Burke. If Luongo does not want to play in T.O., which appears to be the case, then this whole cutthroat idea becomes moot. Same goes with any potential suitor. Cox's ideas are interesting, but highly pathological. GM's in the NHL benefit from developing good relationships with other GM's. Burning bridges will ultimately only shorten a GM's career and tenure

    Luongo is screwing the Nucks, he should go wherever someone accepts him. He couldn't handle the pressure, signed a mega deal, sucked, now he's being picky about where to go. Fuck him, never liked the guy.

    BTW why do Nuck fans hate Burke so much?

    at this moment how secure is Burke's tenure, and IMO if you cant get LU why not go for Schneider!!! Hes better than both your current goaltenders, signing him to 5 year may be a smart move, dick move or not!! T.O needs to make a splash, Vancouver did not try hard enough to move Lu, this should have been a done with deal before the draft, but they sat back and waited

    Business is cutt throat, and Burke has to make his team perform or hes sitting a couple years waiting for another oppurtunity to come, as I dont think T.O ownership will handle this much longer

    Problem is with Burke ant TO is ppl are still willing to spend top dollar on a junk product. I read somehwere the Leafs are one of the most profitable franchises in all major sports. They haven't performed well in a long time and revenue is up. Management and ownership might not have the desire to spend top dollar to get a contender.

    I knew that deal 2 months ago and could have told you that. Hes pretty vocal on what he wants done to people around town. Im really thinking Parise is gonna be a penguin if Suter falls through

    Well Hes always stated he will take a lower cut to get him a good team and a top winger, they only had Hossa briefly. Im thinking and a lot of speculation going around is that he took this knowing Parise was coming to town July 1st.

    Luongo isn't screwing over anyone. He has offered to waive his no trade clause. He is in fact offering to help the Canucks out. Vancouver has screwed themselves up by writing and signing such a ridiculous contract.

    If Vancouver fans hate Burke, that is news to me. When I lived out there and read the local papers/attended games, Burke was the man. He built and iced a great team that was a lot of fun to watch play. If people hate Burke, it is probably because he has become such a mouthpiece since he left Vancouver. He is a smart hockey-man, but a bit of a blow-hard IMO.
    I hear what your saying, but it will never happen. The Canucks would match the offer, and as I said before, Burke is principled. He has stated repeatedly through his GM career that he will not overpay for unproven talent. C'mon, the angry Irishman was ready to push Lowe's teeth through the back of his head for the Ludicrous contract he gave Penner. Cox is selling papers, end of story. You are naive to think Van isn't trying hard to move Luongo. Yes business is Cutthroat, but wrecklessness and failed results might sooner manifest as suicide.

    they spend more then most teams in the league every year though. They will spend money whenever possible. But Burke is actually trying to build this team right. Hes been building since 2009 and we have an insanely deep prospect pool now, but most people dont realize because the media bashes the leafs so much. Even the marlie made it to the championship finals this year and lost after losing 4 of their top 6 to injury. They have guys like:
    Rielly = 2012 5th overall
    Finn = 2012 35th overall
    Colborne = 2008 15th overall
    Kadri = 2009 7th overall
    Gardiner = 2008 16th overall
    Biggs 2011 = 22nd overall
    Percy = 2011 = 25th overall
    Ashton = 2009 29th overall
    Kessel is also still only 24 years old and scored 82 points last year with a 3rd line center
    Add that to both Reimer who is a very good goalie but was hurt all last year, and Scrivens who was by a LONG shot the best goalie in the AHL last year, why would they start tearing a rebuild down to add a 33 year old goalie with ?$10 000 000 000 000 000 left on his contract?
    Burke doesnt have to "make a splash" like people say he does because Im a life long leafs fan and I could care less about making the playoffs as long as we keep adding youth
