I can't speak to them shining or not but those Bridgestone Duelers are hands down the worst tires I have ever had on one of my vehicles. Granted I live in Ohio and have to deal with winters. I suppose if you live in Arizona they would probably be ok. Sorry I didn't contribute to your cause, saw OEM Bridgestone and needed to rant.

 

Yeah, we don't really get a winter here.. But I agree, the tires are shit.

I'm from the school of thought just to have clean tires as opposed to mall crawler tires. Past vehicles, I'd polish the shit out of everything. But this truck, I'm going matte.

 

You know you have cheap tires when...youre in a Ford Explorer and it rollsover because you have Firestone tires.

 

The worst tires I've ever had on a new car were Firestones that came on a '01 Honda Civic.

The Tacoma stock tires are lousy, but I've driven worse.

Still have a pair of those Firestone ATX's that were recalled, and they are still going strong.... on the manuer trailer at the farm.

1) a tire blowout should most definitely NOT cause a roll over.
2) it wasnt a problem with the tires, but with the swingarm front suspension on those POS Ferds that caused excessive wear/stress on the edges of the tires.

It was a massive coverup by Ferd to hide the truth that it was a shitty/dangerous vehicle. Probably involved extortion and threats against tire maker.

Oh yeah I was joking. I apologize if you were offended by what I had said. I was pretty young when that had happened. I just remember the news saying that it was because of Ford and Firestone. Do you know if it was settled out of court? I'm curious to know the outcome, that's if there was an outcome?

 

Car and Driver mag did a whole experiment on the blowout issue back when it was in the media forefront. They rigged tires to blow at different rates to see how it effected handling. I wish I could find that now. Of course, that was back when C/D was funny, creative and entertaining...

 

Compared to the OEM Dunflops, the Bridgestones are a LOT better! I can see them not being great in snow though.

I just bought a set of Bridgestone takeoffs and for a highway tire they're seem pretty decent. I've got Cooper A/T's on another set of rims that I'll run once the snow hits though.

 

When you take off perfectly good POS stock tires at 2600 miles because they suck
