Obliviously you have never had the possibility of not having or being denied health insurance when you need it. My condition makes it tough for me to get private insurance (besides having a Pre-existing condition, I have a history of surgeries). The clause that allow me to NOT be denied private insurance is very helpful to me.

    Ahh, gotcha.
Maybe yes, I see what your saying but I've actually noticed a lot of improvements over years. Having hospitals and health centralized by one controling power (aka Gov) has had some draw backs but its improved in a lot of others. AB for instance has some of the top Nursing programs in all of North America. Reduced wait times, centralized healthcare database so docs can pull up information on any patient.

I think the positives outweigh the negatives. If they ever tried to grab us "By the balls" as you say, I don't see that going over very well. I mean, just look at what happened when they tried to raise tuition.

My brother's one bedroom, 574 sq ft. Apartment rents for $2200 a month. But I live in one of the most expensive areas in one of the most expensive cities.

I thought $3,200/mo was alot to pay for rent. Guess i was wrong. $5.00 and what..2 taxes on a bag of potato chips is cheap too, I guess. Forgive me. Carry on.

3200 a month for. Whole house is a sweet deal here? A little steep for 3 bedrooms, but not terrible. There is a house here for rent for $15000 a month.

Okay so, can someone sum up what Obamacare actually is and how it's going to meld into your guys privatized system?? I'm very curious about that. Most things I find online about it are just plugged news stories

what the gub'mt giveth, ...the gub'mt can taketh... i prefer not to live my life w/ the compulsion of having to drop what i'm doing to form protests in the street whenever the gub'mt retaliates... (a la, the social democracy model, ...takers don't like to have their goodies trimmed back, ...ever...) i prefer a more tranquil life, and thus trade some comfort for liberty... ;)

...not trying to knock CA, ...i've visited some places there and it is very nice, beautiful, ...but i probably disagree w/ the healthcare system...

OP, you need to check this. I don't know all the facets of HIPA, but I do know that it has many protective components for patients, although I deal mainly with information privacy issues. This may be a way to change your medical record.

it's basically a fascist way of increasing the size and breath of washington bureaucracy while using the IRS to levy taxes on behalf of private insurers... in a nutshell...

"individual mandate" - SCOTUS basically released a ruling today, saying it was constitutional for the gub'mt to compel private citizens to buy healthcare, or pay a "tax" to the gub'mt for non-compliance... SCOTUS said it's w/in the gub'mt "taxing authority", ..but not the commerce-clause... ...the ruling is still being dissected as it just came out....

okay so let me get this straight:
    - All americans, regardless if they already have private healthcare or not, now have to pay some $$ amount/month for obamacare.

    - If your already covered and choose to opt out of the obamacare coverage, you basically pay a fee to not be included in the program

Yes? No? Am I even close?

those who do not (for whatever reason) purchase some health plan, must pay the tax...

the law in itself is not "coverage" - i.e. the gub'mt isn't a provider like in canada, ..it's a bunch of regulations for how ins. companies are to run their businesses basically, ...as well as regulations for how private citizens are to engage in health ins..
