Show me your hitch mount bicycle carrier

I'm interested in seeing photos of what you all use to carry your bicycles. Thanks in advance.

 

I stand my mountain bike up in the bed along the passenger side, and utilize the adjustable bed cleats and straps to hold the bike. It is a very slick way to haul your bike. I have them spaced so that there is a cleat at the front tire, back tire, and pedal.

 

I have a Thule and am not impressed with it. I ended up replacing a lot of the hardware because the stuff that came with it was crappy. I'll have to get the model off it when I get it out of storage.

 

No pics to share, but I have a Thule Roadway 4.

I have a cap on my truck and leave the bike rack on all summer. The tilt away feature is a must if you leave the rack on your truck IMO.

That's the Thule rack that I have except mine is the 2 bike version.

 

Wild Side Designs, over 25 years old. Bought it when I was hauling 2 adult and 2 kids bikes along with several tons of other stuff to vacations in a minivan. Now that I have the Tacoma, and the kids are grown and cleared for their own transport, I rarely use it. Heavy duty 2" box steel slides into the 2" receiver. You can put a lock on the hitch pin and then lock bikes to the rack.

I'd have loaded bikes on it for an action shot, but it's just too stinking hot here to spend that much time.

I'm sure the more modern ones that tilt down to allow opening tailgate are more convenient (and expensive).

 

Delta Mounts! I can fit 3 bikes in the bed. Lets you lock up the bikes if you need to park somewhere too.

How did you mount those to the bed?? I bought a few of them but cant for the life of me figure out how to get them secured...

 

I mounted them about a year ago.. let me try to remember..

So the channel will fit a 1" washer behind it. But, i think the delta will fit a 1/4" width screw ( i dont remember the length, 1 1/2" maybe?).

So in order, I put a 1/4" bolt, 1/4" washer, 1" washer into the C-channel. Then the delta mount, 1/4" washer, 1/4" lock washer, 1/4" nylon lock nut.

You need the 1/4" washer before the 1" washer to make sure the head of the bolt doesn't come out of the 1" washer hole.

i need one too. but a good friend offered me a loaner..win!! i dont use one very often..100% of my rides start from my front door. but i am going to drive to portland to vancouver..i need one..and one of those torpedo things for my roof rack.

 

I have a couple of hitch mount racks, but I'm not crazy about them. A bunch of years ago when I had a Ranger, I had my Schwinn on the inside, and my Kona on the outside. I had to stop quickly on the highway, and when I looked in my rear-view mirror, the guy behind me looked like Timmy the Timbit, all eye-balls as he was trying to stop in time. I shut my eyes, and when I didn't hear anything, I opened them, and thought, "Wow. He looks close, but no impact, so...cool!" An hour later when I pulled in my driveway and unloaded the Kona, I started going up the driveway, the wheel suddenly stopped and warped so bad, the wheel was jammed on the seatstays. Fortunately, I was able to true it again, but ever since then, I get nervous using the rear rack.

 

I have Rocky Mounts. Very nice set up. Love the lock.
