    SO. I open it up, see the real mechanisim, and figure, I'll re build it. Really. How hard can it be? Its a vaccume for gods sake!

    I took out the real, removed 2 little bitty screws AND THE WHOLE FUCKING THING BLEW UP!!!

    Evidently, "Kenmore" engineers decided that it requires 15,000 feet of fucking flat spring that has a spring rate JUST under what it takes to suspend a Tacoma to wind a dam cord!!!!!
    JEEZUS FUCKING FUCK!

    SO. I threw the 3 miles of gawd dam flat spring over my wall, along with some other, Im sure required, parts. put the plastic pile of shit back together, and pluged it in. RAN LIKE SHIT. AND I DONT CARE!

    You know what this reminds me of? Push mowers. I repair them on the side and those pull start cords use a giant spring that winds up inside the engine cover shroud. If you take them apart wrong, the spring goes all over the damned place and takes forever to put back in there. I feel your pain because I've been known to throw things too when those springs come shooting out.

    ... and speaking of vacuums, I only buy old ones because they're better. I've got a 1980's Hoover. Its actually made in the USA and built like a god-damned tank. I paid $5 for the thing and it still runs great. What's more, its easy to work on. The belts go bad about every 2 years. Nothing to it. Takes 2 seconds to replace.
