    Too many to list now.

Went shooting last night. Shotgun is in the works. Haven't decided what to get yet. So far the stainless Remington 1911 .45 will work to make people holes if necessary.

Been avoiding off topic for a while due to my drunken political word vomiting a few months back. Now that that's out of the way...

Didn't plan it but thanks to the lovely coincidence of beer and horniness, I am now expecting my first at the ripe old age of 36. Wife is 7 years younger than me so at least one parent won't be in their fifties at HS graduation, lol.

Only about 6 weeks in so don't know what we're having yet but a boy will be the next greatest welder the toyota community has ever known (hehehehe!). In the case of a girl, she'll be a bonified desert rat with the shiniest truck daddy can build her ;)

And the teenage male population of SoCal will drop significantly once they start coming near her.

Gonna be a long strange ride...

Personally I would stay away from the video monitors. I thought about those when my girl was a newborn but I knew I would be glued to it. So we used the regular baby monitor. Don't get me wrong I was still paranoidbt maybe a little less since I didn't have video surveillance 24/7

We just got one of the video monitors. Summer something is the brand. I've set it up and so far I really like it. It's got a mobile base station that you can take with you that abou the size of an iPhone and the camera articulated any direction. You can also speak to the baby through it...you sound like a speak and spell but hey...it works.

So does it have rechargeable batteries? If so how do they do? That is the big issue I've read about, the batteries not lasting. And my wife definitely wants a video monitor.

Don't get any. Keep to a schedule and call it a day. I don't recall my folks using one for me and there were no issues.

If the kid cries for a few minutes because you didn't hear then immediately then who cares. You'll get an ear for what's an immediate problem and what is crying for attention.

I can appreciate what you're saying, but we have a split bedroom house so from our room it's likely we may not even be able to here him at night.

How old? Do you need to hear him at night? Could you set an alarm every 3 hours instead? I mean it's far nicer to be woken up by an alarm than a screaming baby. Take it from someone who get's woken up at 3 am constantly by tones going off.

Pfftt...Get another bed and get comfy. Let the wife sleep with the baby while he's breast feeding. Wife won't even have to really wake up to feed him. Just pull him over, give'em a snack and push'em back to his side. Everyone is happy.

    First off...Congrats!
My wife and I just had a baby boy in February (1 month premature) and it is our second child. My daughter is almost 8. I highly recommend you check of Drew Magary's post on Deadspin.com. He has a few links he calls "DadSpin". It a guys view to everything involved with having children. When shit was getting crazy during my son's stay in NICU and he had tubes and wires everywhere; these stories help me understand what was going on. My favorite 2 are below but there are more.

This is the best, scary, wonderful time in your life. Enjoy it.

Anyone got recommendations for seat protection from the car seat, denting the seat, spilled drinks, and such? Been looking at Baby's R Us but the ones they have barely cover any wider than the car seat. One is a heavy one to protect against denting the seat over the long term which is great, but I also want to protect the fabric against stains. I'm thinking get the thick cover and find other ways to cover the rest of the seat. My wife's car is leather so I'm not too worried about staining in hers so I'm thinking the heavy pad will be good for her car.
