    I have never seen a hand drill like this one, you can really lean into your work , notice the small blue circle, its got a little U joint there.. really bizzarre....

    It's called a corner brace drill. Imagine trying to drill into a baseboard ( the bottom trim board of a wall ) using the regular hand drill of that type. you would never be able to drill straight in because of the swing of the handle. They made ratcheting types for that,until someone thought of this design.

    Search corner brace drill in google and you'll find all kinds of info on them and what they were used for/are worth.
