Did you just shove a sponge between the lock and tailgate or did you zip tie it to the lock?

Are there any worries of the sponge holding moisture and causing rust?

    Great writeup, btw.

I just shoved the sponge in where the mount and tailgate meet because that's what causes the rattling sound.

As for moisture, I doubt it. Not real place for water to seep into unless you're blasting it with water on the plastic cover of the tailgate...even that's a maybe.

I second that. Just shove that sponge in there, itll stay. As for the moisture when i opened the tailgate up it was completly dry in there and it was raining hard the night before i did the install.

    Thanks guys.

Next time I open it up I'm gonna add the sponge and maybe some white lithium grease for a smoother slide.

I just did this install myself. Wired to the passenger side and it works like a charm. Did anyone seal up the rubber plug under the seat again where you feed the wire through it? What did you use?

How do we get the tailgate off if the lock fails in the locked position?

Thanks for the great instructions OP.

So basically it unlocks with one push of the key fob right? You did go through the passenger side wires right?
