How;s my possible sub woofer setup?

I'm thinking about purchasing a 10" sub for my truck and want to put it behind the seat. I have a 1st gen so under is not possible. The subwoofer I want is a pioneer 10" shallow mount TS-SW2501/S4 (4ohms/$100) the amplifier I want is a SoundStorm SSL EV1500M($89)

Am I doing this right? I know I need a wiring kit, but a buddy of mine may hook me up with one and install. I'm trying to stay under $450 installed. I want that sub but i'm flexible on the amp.

Theres no sub in your cart but spend a little more if you need to now. We put a cheap 12" sub in my brothers truck and we ended up pulling it out a year later to put in a JL 12W3. Its such a better sub. I have 2 10W1s sitting in my closet to put in my regular cab at some point. You should be able to get one 10W3 and a good amp for 450 or a little more. Don't buy a good sub and skimp on the amp though. Its just as important if not more. If you need to spend 550 to get what you want do it. $100 more now is nothing compared to redoing it all later because you tried to save a couple bucks

That should get a start and better responses. Lots of good equipment out there depending on extent of what you need and what you already have. All the good equipment in the world can't make up for a bad install/planned box etc. though.

I may try to install myself, as far as space goes i'm trying to utilize the space behind my rear seats.

I currently have a Kenwood DNX7100 for a headuntit with stock door speakers

The factory refurb is a little sketchy, but i'm trying to get my stuff a little cheaper than retail.
Looking into amny suggestions as far as wiring kits though.

 

I just ordered 2 12" mtx terminators with the box for 156 shipped. 400w rms @2ohm 1200w max . They are decent i heard but what is the rms and max power on the sub? Ive been searching around for an amp now and heard ssl is pretty good for the money. Ssl is actually owned by bOss audio which owns planet audio as well. Just make sure your sub can handle up to 1600 watts and what ohm it runs at so you dOnt kill your amp or sub. Let me know on what you decide as i am throwing one in my 1st gen as well

 

sub can handle 300 watts RMS with a max of 1200 watts RMS. I'm gunna wire the amp and sub at 4 ohms, the amp puts out 600watts RMS at 4ohms. I figured I'd give it a little extra power.

 

I dont think running that much rms is a good idea. Maybe a 100 or so over is ok but not doUble. And also i dont think it its 1200 rms its just max wattage of 1200 but i could be wrong. Do you happen to have amp installed for your speakers? I have all aftermarket speakers and deck but no amp and they dont sound as good as they did in my old car with a stock amp. Bass and all is good but if you can only hear that its not going to be that worth it.

 

my bad i meant 1200 watts max! Yea my friend installs amps and subs for a living and told me that it'd be fine... 50% of the max rating is ok, 300 is a little low don't you think?

 

Yea it seems a hair low but your better off trying it at around the recommended rms first until they are broken in. It either will handle that much constant power or not or could just sound bad with distortion. Just let them break in first before you bump it up high. Also get some good thick wire for yOur amp youll need it and a capacitor

 

Yea thats exactly what my buddy said, i'll keep the volume down and the gain down for a while then i'll bump it lol
