Air intake affecting off roading?

    I recently got my first tacoma and I'm trying to figure out if the way the stock air intake is setup can potentally be bad for off road use. My main concern is going through mud and small creeks. Does anyone have any input on this? I wouldn't mind the increased performance of a CAI, so if there's a particular one out there that would be better than the rest please let me know. I've seen the URD on here and it seems out of the question for me.

    Too few to list.
    If you're doing some serious mudding or lots of water, I'd recommend a snorkel.

    URD is a very bad idea as it puts the intake out in front and nearer to the centerline...The stock intake isn't bad if you keep the passenger side of the truck up outta the water.

    CAIs-TRD, Volant, xDI true flow all keep the same kinda position for the filter. You could get a AFE filter as another option.

    If you are thinking about serious water crossings and mudding....and snorkel is the way to go.

    Well I don't think it's that serious that i need a snorkel. It's not often that I'd be going through deep water, just when on my hunting lease during the wet season is it an issue. So a TRD CAI wouldn't have any more of a negative effect on this issue then the stock one correct? And from what I understand it wont void my warranty, is this true? Are the added benefits of one worth the extra money over a drop in AFE filter?

    I don't have either...but from what I think I've heard around here..Folks got a little bit of gain from the AFE filter and a lil more from the CAI...but you have to look at what you will spend for each....70 bucks or so for the AFE...and 350ish for the CAI.

    Thanks for the help. So can anyone that maybe has experiance with both setups give some insight?
