Yep they were to big to fail.

    BULL@#$%

We have dumped all kinds of money into this company and they are still going to go bankrupt wish they had done that first and got it over with. Without out shoving a bunch of our tax money down a pit that we will never see again.

Amen. They've contributed what they need to, now Ford is the one to compete with.

You must know when the government has to supply money for warranty repairs...you should call it quits.

He who has control gets to call all the shots. Dont drink the bailout koolaid or they will own you forever.

Hopefully they can restructure there debts, renegotiate there union contracts, and make a come back under the strict guidance of the obama car czar. :) :(

well say goodbye to saturn and hummer....GM was stated to throw them on the chopping block if they rework the company. they need to put out vehicles that people will actually buy AND stop making the exact same vehicle in 3 different companies w/ a different name on it.

For all intensive purposes GM didn't do anything with Hummer except drag it's much deserved name through the mud. It's as bad as what Dodge is passing for a charger now.

Yeah maybe, But the reality of it all is that whatever profits you make Obama will be taking based upon the new capital gains guidelines.

They said that they were going to keep the HUMMER brand (because of Iraq)

They were going to drop Saturn and Pontiac.

But I do agree with the "making 3 cars with 3 diff brands. i.e. Saturn Outlook, GMC Acadia, Chevrolet........????

    so on and so forth

but they can still make the military vehicles w/o having the Hummer being dragged down by plastic tonka toy vehicles. the company I work for makes military vehicles, but u'll never see a General Dynamics coupe on the highway...lol

Well that is true. I wasnt thinking about that when I posted. GM is going to do something with the H2 (discontinue it) but I have heard them say that they will still produce the H3 and H3 Alpha

It'd be a shame to kill saturn...some of the designs (and names) are brought from the vauxhalls in europe...looks better than a lot of gm and chevy models

I've worked for GM dealers since 1990 and have been saying for years that this company needs to trim the fat. Maybe this will be the chance for them to do just that.
