most of us are people that tinker and modify, we see no issue with spending, not only the money, but the time and effort it takes to modify a truck/car.

    others, rather not, period.

this Baja is perfect for people that would love the lifted truck look or need, but are not the type to go out and start buying parts and dealing with with, whats for most people, a huge pain in the ass of installation issues, grease, time down, tools, problems etc.

we all understand the math... we dont need 20 of us going over the list of item we could buy for the difference, they get it.
We all know that we can buy a $20k base 4x4 truck and modify it to infinity for less than a TRD off road, and of course, a Baja and end with a much better overall rig.
Myself, i was not willing to that that much so i bought an Off road package knowing that all i was willing to do was a simple (to me) 3" coilover lift. i was not willing to take a base and get into the differentials and all that extra shit.
The Baja owner is one step past me, he doesnt even want to deal with the simple lift, and so theyre willing to pay for that piece of mind, good on them.

I dig it. I can't afford that much, or want a SB, so I wouldn't consider it, but I still dig it.

Someone made a point about the value of time. Yes time is money, however, many here take pride in putting their sweat and tears into their truck. Many consider their trucks and the work they do to them a hobby and something they truly enjoy doing. That is priceless.

On the other hand, many people don't like to wrench on their trucks, and that is fine too. For them, this kind of truck fits their needs. They still get a relatively capable truck and don't have to waste their time in installing the components that make it this capable. Also, some are not as mechanically inclined, so it is probably much safer for everybody that they buy this than starte with a base and build up.

Imo the Baja is a really nice truck if the OTD price is right and it seems like it can be had for quite a bit less than the scary high msrp.

Now are all the suspension parts, coils, shocks, leafs etc that make it a Baja from the regular TRD offroad available? Do they have toyota p/n's and can be ordered or are they just available only with the baja package?
Reason I'm asking is, I'm assuming this particular setup would not have any vibes and other issues associated with lifts if it is designed and warrantied by Toyota, therefore a good alternative for some that do not have the knowledge, time and money to deal with such issues.:anonymous:

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
"Baja Edition" = the edition named after the sound the salesman makes after the buyer pays $40K for a truck that can be made for $35K. They had to drop the extra "jajajajajaja"'s from the name, of course, to make the sticker fit better.

Been brought up a couple times already and it was concluded that those parts will not be released separately, just like those fancy fj rims

that is a SICK looking truck, too expensive for my taste tho lol, i bought mine, a 2012 double cab 4x4 6 speed manual with just the convenience extra value package, for $27,000 special ordered, brand new, i probably put just under $3000 worth of upgrades and mods into it and i am really satisfied with it, as well as the fact that i saved about $10,000, and i think the regular toyota shocks offer a better and more comfortable on-road ride than the harsher bilstiens lol.. but you know what truck i would pay this much for?? the 2012 toyota tacoma xsp-x! that thing is so crazy and so rare lol, and i actually think its $5,000 less than the this baja lol

Check the BST forum. Seems a lot of folks on here thrown custom wheels on their Taco, so you may be able to pick up a pair at a reasonable price if you're really interested.

Pretty much sums up what I was going to say.

Most folks are here at TW are enthusiasts to say the least, but for the average consumer, most folks probably don't have the time/knowledge/confidence/etc to do their own work.

Hey, it's not for me, but for some, the Baja edition may be exactly what they want, and they may not mind the inflated price tag because they can afford it. And also, I imagine most folks that do buy the Baja edition are fully aware the price is inflated when they make their choice -- they'd rather pay for the convenience of getting everything available in that package.

I, for example, work with computers for a living, and have been building my own systems for years. Does that mean I laugh at all my friends that buy MacBooks for $1,500+ even though the hardware is only worth 1/2 that much? No. (well, at least not to their faces).

There is one listed at mike erdmann Toyota in merritt island, Florida for 35,100. Are there any performance enhancements to the xsp-x? That is the first one that I have seem. Has some neat features. Reminds me slightly of the T-Force Tundra package.

I've had mine for about 2 weeks. So far I'm very happy with it. This being my 3rd Tacoma, it rides great. Took my first road trip with it. After 1,400 miles one way it's performance is great. I didn't buy it for the gas mileage. Not to far off from my 09 sport. Little extra throttle response on the road. Not to mention my two girls in the back didn't complain once. The upgraded suspension has done wonders for the road. It handles great and doesn't bounce like my 09 did.

Yes that is right, and they also have a tundra xsp-x this year as well, and yup, no performance upgrades, just all visual lol, I love everything about the xsp-x exept that most all of them have a tan interior and no mudguards lol. But thats whatever, and yep, it doesnt have bilstien shocks on it or any other performance item but I think that works on its favor, because I think Toyota stepped up their game on the regular oe shocks this year, I think they deff made some unannounced tweaks to them, because they honestly are rather good, and the one thing, besides the sick looking flares the xsp-x has on the fenders would have to be those neat leds under the headlamps, I really like the fact that they are integrated and not just slapped on there :)

please explain...considering trading in the 5lug for a dcsb v6 6lug + fox suspension but also considering a new Raptor. The size and mpgs on the raptor scare me a bit though.
