Like yours...the 08+ models. Are they the same as the 2012?

They are listed for about 3k-3500 for an 08.

Blank canvas but ready, stock for not much longer...
As a Duc owner, I was only going to get one for the woman, but something fun like a Honda Ruckus that I can tear around the neighborhood on.

Can't go wrong with a 250, my first bike was the old EX 250 Ninja. I then upgraded to the EX-500, finally settling on a ZX-7R where I did all my not-so smart things on, but at the same time learned how to ride and fall.

I considered the Ruckus but it is only 50 cc stock and in Cali being governed at like 40 mph sucks. Most of the streets near my house locally non freeway are like 55+. I figure a scooter like a 125 or 150cc can get me around town, save some gas and still keep me on two wheels. Something like cruising up and down the coast is what I am looking for.

The ninja is nice cause I can go on the freeway too and still save on gas.

    Truck - 16mpg
    Ducati - 30mpg

Ninja about 50-60 mpg from what I have heard

    Buddy Scooter - 90mpg

That is what I am working with.

O lol, yeah they're fun bikes and get crazy gas miliage. You could also look at the cbr 250 which is 1 cyl and is fuel injected. I think it gets 70mpg

My 650 gets 60 mpg. Don't need a 250 to get great mpg

I got my '09 for $2500. It had been dropped, but there were just a few scratches on it. Not bad at all. And 2595 miles on the clock when I drove it off.

I'm averaging 58 mpg right now. First fill up I got 65. I just got a new front sprocket in today. Gonna put it on in the next few days and see what kind of mpg improvement I get.

I'm sure it does but I just wanted something cheap to rip around in... For serious play it's on the Panigale.

What mods did you end up doing? I got a white/blue '07 myself, but I'm still a motorcycle noob  The idea is to do stuff like your trip one day though.:)

I pull mid 30s out of my Vulcan 1600 bagger (fairing, hardbags, trunk).
Like the Tacoma, speed kills it.
High altitude, slower twisty mountain roads, I can pull closer to 45.

I just got 53 at a fill up today. 166 on 3 gallons, and not going easy on it.

best thing I did to mine was shim the needle in the carb since these things run so lean from the factory. It runs way better. I also dropped a tooth on the front sprocket and got some low end grunt.
