I'm not about to drop a grand on a shell for the truck. That's a lot of money for that.

Spent the day learning how to fell trees in the biggest poison oak I've ever seen. Absolutely ridiculous.

I've thought of getting one too, just have too much other stuff to take care of. It would make camping and hauling around stuff a lot nicer, but I get this feeling that it would be in the way during offroading. I need to talk to Ben more to get his opinion.

Had a similar experience last weekend in Sac. Had 4 tacos...we all parked next to each other so I backed in next to them... getting into my spot...still 2 feet in the street and some lady lays on the horn behind me like I'm gonna hit her. I outwardly made fun of her in front of everyone. I was a solid 3 feet from her car.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
It all depends what you need. I haul a ton of music gear that NEEDS to stay dry and protected. It is definitely the most functional and beneficial "mod" I've done to my truck.

Ya Mitch, depends on what you need it for. I had a softop on my old Taco and it is nice but as far as security goes, not the safest! I got one over a canopy because like you've mention it is cheaper. My reasons for getting one was for my hobbies. Snowboarding, hunting, fishing. Didn't have to worry about my gear getting wet back there and when I didn't need it , collapse it down or put up the sides for better blind spot visibility.

Now on my old Taco the softopper wasn't level with the cab of my truck, not sure if they improved it on the 2nd gen ones.
