ha sweet. we have a 28 'hole' course by house that is pretty fun, then the club here also does 3d shoots on wednesdays. but i stick to my free beer drinking mondays with dinner included. we just got two new rineharts, both turkeys.

i was shooting well at 80, and thats damn good for me. pin stacking two pins.

we also sometimes put a iron pig out there. yes iron. that has a hole cut where the heart is. ive ruined three arrows cuz of that fucker all at 30-40 yards.. but punched it through twice at 50. that thing is nerve racking.

how far have you been able to shoot at?

Man there is nothing that will get your blood moving like shooting at iron targets with small holes! I've also lost my share of arrows on those ass holes.

oh ya def wait for teh peep. iono how your getting away with it now. your peep is your back anchor, look through that, align the cirlce of it with the housing of your sight, and there is your anchor point on every draw.

That's kinda crazy. The peep won't move that much. You really need a peep to shoot well ( and safely).

Yeah, my shop told me that its better to get about 100 shoots through it to settle everything in and get it tuned after so that it doesnt move after it is placed.

I have been shooting safely and grouping within about 2" without a site at 25 Yards. Just have to figure it out and your golden.. Cant wait to get the peep though so I can get more accurate! figure shooting that close of group at that distance without a peep aint too bad..

    Man that would suck..

What peep do you guys all use and suggest I get for my bow, do they make a huge difference between them??

Well iono. Settling in doesn't really mean anything. Main thing is is that ur strings will stretch a little. In that case, if dual cam it'll throw off timing in which u twist one side and it fixes it, thus pulling the peep back to original position. To be honest, I've NEVER HEARD of a pro shop not giving a peeep. Plus, no matter what the case they can re adjust it if it moves.

They are all pretty much the same. The one i was using had a small piece of surgical hose on it so that when you draw the bow the peep was always aligned. But it broke so i am taking it all off and going back to a regular one.

All good points. As long as I am not shooting completely inaccurate I am happy to get the peep after a few shots..

Hmmm how did you like that type before it broke??

Loved it. Went and had it fixed today. They say u need to replace the tube every year. But when i went to have it replaced they didn't charge me for it. Got that replaced and than had them lengthen the draw from me and got it all for free from Gander Mountain.

i think most archers shoot the tubeless peeps. i rarely even see the tubed ones..a modern bow string is badass. you set the peep correctly, and it lines up perfect everytime. hate to have that black tube break at a crucial moment...and they rob you of some arrow speed.

bengland..i get it with the 100 shots to settle the string. when i bought my bows, me and the salesman sat there and shot a bunch of arrows at an indoor target..we sent about 100 shots down range. just junk arrows. he then left and set up the peep. the peep was loose and i did that thing were i draw back with my eye closed. i get into a perfect anchor and open my eyes.."where was the peep?"..the guy then moved it up or down until it was perfectly placed for my anchor point. he then tied the peep in. i shot it at about 20 feet and got the arrow to hit about 3" high with my 20 pin. i was then on my own to sight my bow in.

sending you home to shoot the bow peepless makes no sense to me. how do you get into a good anchor? think about it..100 arrows you could fire in about 15 minutes at the bow shop.

having said that..when you get new bow strings from a custom string builder..it will be tensioned and prestretched..just tie in the peep and it will not move very much at all (if any). good luck.

I wasnt able to pull my bow back 100 times at the shop as it was my first bow and set it at 60#. I also have the handle release which allows me to anchor in a general area right at the end of my jaw below my ear. Seems to give me a consistent shot.. I am going to get the bow tuned and peep placed tomorrow at the shop before I work so all will be ok :)

I am planning on getting the G5 Titanium peep. After some research a lot of people really like those.. I definitely dont want a tubed peep, seem like that would amplify tunnel vision as well as slowing down the bow speed almost 10 FPS.

I will let you know how everything goes tomorrow all, cannot wait to get everything sited in and get ready for the season!

    seriously.

my idiot buddy on a whim put in for some X-zone..south of lake tahoe. he drew a tag!!! then it dawned on him..a few things:
    1. he doesnt really know how to hunt deer.
    2. he hates hunting alone
    3. he hates camping alone.

i think he is gonna burn that tag!! hahah..i offered to go with him and simply help him along. if it didnt affect my own hunting..i got an AO tag, which i told him to buy. but i think D6 opens up around that time..and i may be hiking up into the sierras. which is brutal physically. i LOVE car camping deer hunts..hiking in, is a distant third.

Your buddy drew X zone, my buddy didnt... Fail... and isnt gonna hunt it? what a fool. me and my buddies all put in for shit, and always tag along just to be a spotter/pusher and some company. Not only that, why dont you pick up a bear tag and then you have something to hunt for too. what x did he draw and how many points did he have?
