It was bad last year too...ever since they drained the lake. Last year, all the bald eagles were at Silver Lake while everyone was fishing at Caples. Follow the eagles!

Didn't DF&G poison Caples one year to try and get rid of either a fish or some fauna?

They drained Caples 2 or 3 years ago to repair the dam/drain/pump. They hauled the fish out and dumped it in Silver Lake that year. You couldn't not catch a fish that year in Silver Lake. There were 3 Bald Eagles eating out of Silver Lake that year. Then when Caples filled up the next year, they restocked Caples. But it hasn't been the same since (at least not as of last summer).

Yeah, Caples wasn't going well so we moved to Bear. My dad caught one fish and it was a tiny brown trout. I caught nothing and that seemed to be how it was going for everyone else too. We should have tried Silver lake but my dad kept saying Bear River Reservoir was where he fished as a kid and took me when I was little. I'll have to test out Silver lake next time. Recommended lures/bait and any good spots?

Power bait is usually a good one at bear. What were you using?

Same at Silver Lake. Go around the backside where you drive on the granite (to the waterfall trailhead) and go out on those rocks that extend into the lake.

At bear I tried a super duper, mini night crawlers on gang hooks, some rapala lure I found in my tackle box, salmon eggs...pretty much everything but power bait :(

Haha trust me, I threw everything I had in my tackle box. It just wasn't my day today :( Never tried the fly and bobber rig though. How exactly do you set that one up?

They make auto manufacturing in the watsonville plant also, I've seen it and since i'm supposed to ask a lot of questions. I've seen 2.5 resis for a jeep application. Not to mention the Raptor shocks are all built there. They have a facility that does shocks, and testing in the SD for the desert/offroad stuff. Right now I'm working on the rear bike shock line, and then i'll move to the bike fork, then maybe powersport line. Who knows, The fork line is working long shifts, and part of my training and responsibilities is to look for manufacturing gaps that cut into production time of the product. I.e. i look for areas of improvement and make sure everything flows, not to mention work the line to get hands on experience with the product. It's messy work, and myself and others are surprised I've been able to keep oil off my clothes.
