    Ok, here's the scenario:

    Bought my wife a 2012 4Runner Trail, it's badass! I want it. I drive a 2011 TRD off road DC 4x4.

She is willing to trade with the following caveat, she will trade the Taco for a loaded Honda Accord .

Now I'm confused and my judgement is clouded by the awesome newness of the 4runner. What the eff should i do. I love the Tacoma, but the 4runner's enclosed back space and drivablitiy fit's me better. I had a full size Bronco prior to the Tacoma.

What should i do, besides get drunk? Halp me.

If she's willing to give you the car you want then you should be willing to give her the one she wants.

    neglect, mostly.
hmmmm. . . that is pretty sick.

if it meets all your needs functionality wise, yeah i'd ditch the taco and cruise that bad boy around. you're happy, wife's happy.

It's just new car envy, everyone gets it when someone close to them gets a new car/truck. You start thinking about getting a new one yourself. But, hey, if you can swing it, do it, if that fits your life better.

I know the feeling. My wife has a 10 4Runner SR5 that I like more than my Taco but the function of my truck beats me having a 4Runner of my own.

    My wifes 4Runner.

    Hard to vote...

Based strictly on my preference? No way.

But hey, it's your preference -- if you want the 4Runner and the wife is willing to trade, then by all means do it.

I mean, if someone put a gun to my head and told me I had to trade the Taco, the 4Runner would probably be my next choice; I've owned both and both are great vehicles...I just get more use out of the truck bed than I would the "enclosed back space"

Do it if that's what you both want.
Tacomas are the best if you want a truck, but if a SUV fits your needs better, then the 4-runner is a great option. Likewise, Honda Accords are great cars also, and might be perfect for your wife.

I am in a similar situation where a SUV would fit my needs better most of the time, but in my case I am not willing to part with my truck.

    Do it.

Hondas are nice. The 4runner is sweet.

If you ever want to get back into a Tacoma, you can do that later on.

Good luck with your decision!

What I want to know is why did you buy your wife a 4Runner when she wanted a Honda?
And you will lose a lot of money on the trade in.

    Im getting there......
Solely in terms of value I would go with the 4runner, if push came to shove you could always trade it in if you hated it for another taco or whatever. The only reason not to take the runner would be if you are completely against your wife getting the honda.... for financial, or personal reasons (namely if it will jeopardize your marriage or cause you some kind of harm).

I think the accord sedan is a nice car although there are definitely better options out there for the same price (35k) (maybe have her consider some of those (i.e. the Infiniti g37, the lexus es, the toyota avalon or camry hybrid, hyundai genesis). If she is looking at the accord coupe however (38k) their are even more better choices (hyundai genesis r-spec coupe, infiniti g37 coupe, bmw 328 coupe, mercedes c250 coupe, nissan 370z) I am definitely no honda fan boy but the only reason I would not take the 4runner is if she wanted to trade your taco for a ridgeline . Plus we may even let you come back to tacomaworld after the swap;)

She had a Volvo XC90, tranny was going out at 100k, we really didnt want to trade it but I saw the beginnings of a money pit. Volvo is loaded with sensors and other bullshit that is expensive to maintain. We needed a road trip capable vehicle, she liked the 4runner. Now, I can trade the truck, already been offered 26500, thats a shy less than I paid for it. She knows that i like the 4runner, and we don't need two sUV's. So, she would like an accord or camry or something for her DD, and the 4runner for me and long roadtrips. Hope that makes since.

Also, thanks for the feedback everbody. Everyones comments make sense.

Haha, me too! What's even funnier, I traded 96 Accord with 190K miles on it for the Taco! They gave me 5K:eek: Transmission was gone, brakes were gone, half of my garage door sides were attached to the quarterpanels, on and on. They really wanted to sell me the Taco.

    LOL!!!!!!!!

Seriously though.... Not enough information to make the decision.

Do you need the utility of having a pickup available frequently enough to where it's not economical to rent a U-Haul?

If you do a lot of work around the house where you're hauling brick, tile, concrete, lumber, etc.... you're going to thrash the 4-Runner.
Also the issue of towing capacity... do you tow, and how does the 4-Runner capacity compare to the Taco?

Personally, I would do it. I like having a truck available, but an SUV satisfies 90% of my hauling needs. For the times I'd need to haul lumber or concrete... $30 to U-Haul covers me.
